Anzac Day
St Anne's was represented at the local Anzac Day service where our college captains laid a wreath at the Shepparton Cenotaph. The ceremony was well attended and continues to signify a very important day in our nation's history.
New Bishop Announced - Sandhurst Diocese
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Most Reverend René Ramirez RCJ as the Ninth Bishop of Sandhurst. Currently serving as Auxiliary Bishop for the Northern Region of the Archdiocese of Melbourne, Bishop René, succeeds Archbishop Shane Mackinlay who led Sandhurst as its Eighth Bishop from 2019 until his appointment to the See of Brisbane in 2025.
It is very exciting that Bishop Rene is returning to our diocese. As many of you would know he was previously Parish priest of St Mel's. Bishop Rene is always very interested in the happenings at St Anne's College and he will be a wonderful Bishop.
Staff Professional Development
Staff took part in professional development on our pupil free day last week. The day led by Dr Jared Horvath focussed on the science of learning that underpins the Magnify Sandhurst initiative.
Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Catholic Education Week which is an opportunity for Catholic schools to celebrate our shared Catholic identity, distinctive mission, and the valuable contribution Catholic education makes to families, parishes, and the wider community. In line with this year's Sandhurst theme "Seek Peace & Pursue it", students will be creating prayers for peace that will be displayed around the school and in the St Mel's church.
Wonderful Women's Day Morning Tea
Catholic Education Week will conclude with our Wonderful Women's morning tea next Friday. One of our favourite events on our annual calendar - we hold this each year on the Friday prior to Mother's Day to celebrate the beautiful women in our lives. I look forward to seeing many of you there!
St Anne's Starring at Volleyball!
Our Senior Boys Volleyball Team took part in the regional finals in Wodonga on Wednesday. The team spirit and the respectful manner in which the team competed with was wonderful to see. Well done team!
