Wellbeing Update – Supporting Smooth School Operations
Hello Parents/Guardians,
A quick request to all families that makes a big difference to daily school operations. If you know your child will be absent, please notify the school via Sentral as early as possible, even on the morning of the absence!
Each morning, our leadership team works carefully to organise staffing across the school. This includes allocating teachers, arranging Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs), and organising Education Support (ES) staff to ensure all classes are well supported. When we have accurate attendance information early, we can make informed, strategic decisions about staffing.
At times, we bring in additional staff based on expected numbers, only to find a higher number of student absences than anticipated. This can mean we’ve allocated resources we didn’t ultimately need, resources that could otherwise be directed toward student programs, supports, and learning materials.
Your support in notifying absences promptly helps us plan more effectively, use our resources wisely, and maintain the best possible learning environment for all students.
Thank you for working with us on this!
Additional Wellbeing Supports for all TPS Families
We all have good days and bad days. Then there are those days when something isn't quite right, you've got something on your mind, or things just seem too much.
It can make a real difference having someone to talk to. To hear what you have to say. And to give you advice. At Teesdale PS, we’re committed to supporting the wellbeing of our whole school community. A range of free and accessible services are available for families who may need additional support, advice, or someone to talk to.
Locally, families can access:
- MELI Drop-In Service with Kim Kemerer
- Ballarat Health Service Access and Triage (1300 094 187) for urgent mental health support.
There are also several trusted helplines, including
- Lifeline (13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14)
- Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467)
- Kids Helpline (1800 551 800)

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, 13YARN (13 92 76) provides culturally safe crisis support.
Families seeking guidance around grief and loss can access helpful resources through the Trauma and Grief Network and Emerging Minds.
If you’re unsure where to start, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school, we’re here to help connect you with the right support.
