Student Achievements

Congratulations to the following students:

Hamish Slade (Year 7) has been selected to represent Tasmania in the U13 State Football Team and the U13 State Futsal Team, to compete in the Australian Futsal Championships to be held in January.

Duke Armstrong (Year 10) has recently been crowned Under-18 Tasmanian state surfing champion. He has been selected to participate in the Australian Junior Surfing Titles to represent Tasmania in the U18 division and selected to take part in the Australian Junior Surfing Schools Championship. He will be representing the South Arm Boardriders in the Australian Boardriders Battle in Burleigh Heads after a tough battle fought between the states best teams. He also won the Phantom Coast Classic held in Term 4 in the north west of the state.

Well done to Elliott Stee (Year 12), who recently attended the National History Challenge Ceremony. Elliott was named State Winner of the Year 11/12 section, State Winner of the First Nations People’s/Special Category and State Young Historian of the year.

 

As part of this exciting achievement, Elliott received a certificate of achievement, a trophy, 2 medals, $800 cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to Canberra to attend an award ceremony at Parliament House.

 

Congratulations Elliott! This is an amazing achievement and we are incredibly proud of your efforts.

Finn Buckland (Year 11) recently entered the South East Arts Prize with his design project, which was recently displayed at the UTAS Art School as part of the Year 11/12 Object Design course. 

 

Finn won 1st Prize - Junior Secondary with his design project and was presented with his award from Sorrell Mayor Janet Gatehouse.

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to represent Tasmania at the upcoming School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships in Canberra and the Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics All Schools Championships in Melbourne.

Finn Temby (Year 9) recently attended the Australian Maths Trust State Awards 

 

Finn performed exceptionally well in the Australian Mathematics Competition, receiving the Australian Maths Trust Medal, which is only given to one in 5000 participants. He also received a Prize award for the competition, putting him in the top 0.3% of students.

 

Well done Finn!
