APS in China!

We are writing to you from the bullet train on the way to Shanghai after a successful visit to our sister school, Xurijingcheng PS, in Nanjing.

Our students and staff have been welcomed with open arms by the school community of Xurijingcheng PS as we’ve celebrated our 10-year sister school relationship. The students have had the opportunity to learn in a variety of classes, including science, English, Chinese, design technology, maths and cooking. Many of the classes have involved learning about the mid-Autumn festival which is fast approaching.

We visited the Nanjing soccer training facility and enjoyed a friendly game against the sister school staff and students. We participated in a tea ceremony. Over our time we have tried many different Nanjing dishes.

During our time at our sister school, our students taught a lesson about their experiences at the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an. They then shared with the sister school some learnings about First Nations knowledge and technological innovation.

We are grateful to the team at Xurijingcheng PS, led by Principal Xie, for the way they have again welcomed us. We look forward to continuing to invest in our sister school relationship and hope to welcome them to our school soon.

Thank you to Hong Ma and Amelia Busuttil for their organisation and involvement in this year’s trip.

A big thank you to our staff at Aspendale for supporting the students to finish Term Three well, with a special thank you to Melissa Jacobs, Jess Johnston and Leanne Peterson for your leadership over this time.

Enjoy your September break and we look forward to seeing you in Term Four.
