From our Acting Assistant Principal

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you

I’d like to begin today’s newsletter by saying a big thank you to the school community, families, staff and students for your patience and kindness while I have taken on this role over the last two weeks. It has been a busy time, and everyone has made me feel encouraged and supported. It is a privilege to work in such a wonderful community.

China Study Tour Continues

The team have continued their amazing adventures in China. This week’s highlights include going to see the terra-cotta warriors, arriving at our sister school Xuri Jingcheng Primary School and experiencing school in China, as well as visiting the zoo to see the giant pandas. After a busy few days in Nanjing, they have spent today travelling to Shanghai.

They are currently in exploring markets and the Nanjing Road district and will do some sightseeing at the Bund this evening. Tomorrow, they head to Shanghai Disneyland.

Read on in the newsletter to hear an update from the team along with many photos of their journey.

Year 3/4 Girls STEM Discovery Challenge

Last Friday a selection of girls from Years 3 and 4 headed to Mentone Girls Grammar to compete in the STEM Discovery Challenge. Find out more about their adventure later in the newsletter.

Year 5 Twisted Science Incursion

Our Year 5 students had a great time developing their knowledge and conducting experiments in chemistry during their Twisted Science Incursion on Monday.

Foundation Nola Barber Visits

It has been wonderful to welcome different groups from Nola Barber Kindergarten across the week into our Foundation classrooms.

Ramps update

Work progresses on our ramps near the Year 5 rooms, with the completion of the ramp to the junior yard last week and demolition of the ramp leading to the courts. Today cement was poured to begin the foundations of the new ramp for that side of the deck.

Sports Celebration Day

Don’t forget to wear your favourite team colours tomorrow for our Sports Celebration Day; it is looking to be a great morning. The parade will be on The Courts, starting at 9:15am, followed by rotation sports activities after recess. Gold coin or coin line donations towards Equal Threads is appreciated.

Staffing Update

We would like to congratulate Cait Fletcher on her appointment as Acting Assistant Principal at Mentone Primary School for the remainder for the year. Michael Stent, who is currently teaching 6F, will continue in Term Four. This will provide continuity and consistency for the class as they complete the year and transition to secondary school. Caitlin Beer has been the Year Six Learning Leader in Cait’s absence, and will continue this leadership role in Term Four.

Assembly and End of Term

Tomorrow we will hold our end of term assembly in the courtyard at 2pm before students will be dismissed for the holidays at 2:30pm.

Have a safe and enjoyable holidays. See you all back on Monday 5th October for Term 4.

Kind regards,

Melissa Jacobs
