2025 JP Racing

HPV Series - Casey Fields

On the 3 of May a large amount of students and I had the opportunity to participate at the Casey fields race track. All of us had an amazing day with so many fun things going on. The experience was really enjoyable (even though I was only there for half the day).

I started the day off with having a quick snack that some parents got together. After that we started the race and this was the most exciting part of all. Seeing our teams circling the track and cheering on my teammates got me revved up to race! I loved that we got to spend time with friends and play things like games and tell funny stories while supporting each other while in the trikes.

As I was the last rider for my team, I had to wait around all day for my turn. I Helped out by timing my teammates and putting up signs for them as they rode. One of my favourite parts of the day was definitely making the signs and showing the people on the track.

My nerves grew as it came close to my turn. I was a bit worried about being the last rider in for our team as I was not sure how the race will end. My teammates gave me support and encouragement and told me to “Just ride fast”... So I did.

The pit change to my go was realIy fast and when I got in the cart I felt really scared because there were adults racing along with us. As I was riding I was feeling much better than I was feeling at the first race. After riding for a while I could feel myself getting tired. On my second last lap I had my first crash! I collided with another vehicle and was pushed off the track into the grass. I was feeling really scared but I got back up to keep riding as I knew there wasn’t much time to go.

When we finally stopped the race I had time to breathe and relax. I was feeling extremely proud of our school and our great results.

My team Vanquish finished 2nd

Raptor 3rd

Phoenix 4th

Tape n Ties (TNT) 5th

Shazzam 9th

Overall it was a great day and I loved all of the things that we did.

On the 3rd May all the HPV students competed at Casey Fields Criterium Track. The race went from Morning to early evening making it a 7 hour race. We had tents along with tables, benches and equipment set up by people who got to the track early.

Firstly, we were all enthusiastic as soon as we arrived at Casey. Excitement was in the air and everyone was pumped up and ready to go! We took a few photos and before we knew it the race was underway!

There were many teams competing, all with creative names on their vehicles. My favourites were Pink Fluffy Unicorn and Wasabi.

The weather was perfect so we didn’t have any problems regarding that. As soon riders got in everyone was involved and busy doing something including

  • Setting up shoes and gloves
  • Pit changes
  • Cooling off
  • Setting up the BBQ
  • Cheering on teammates
  • Timing

To race we used all our working vehicles including our brand new (named) vehicle Tape n’ Ties/TNT/Dynamite along with Vanquish, Raptor, Phoenix and Shazzam. We had racers in each vehicle change every 30 min. The race went on as planned and everyone got a chance to ride. A few riders even got to ride twice.

All vehicles did good but the leaderboard shows:

  1. Adrenaline (Epsom Primary school)
  2. Vanquish
  3. Raptor
  4. Phoenix
  5. Tape n’ Ties/TNT/Dynamite

My personal challenge throughout the race was how thin the racetrack was for all of the many vehicles competing. Our last race was at Calder Race Track which had a much wider track compared to Casey. It’s now my goal to get better at manoeuvring around vehicles in much more narrow areas.

We also ate lunch at the race which was freshly BBQ sausages and burgers. The food was amazing and fueled us through the whole race!

To conclude, everyone involved in the race had a fabulous unforgettable experience. Some parents helped out which definitely made the day run a lot smoother. This was 100% one of the most fun races I have attended ever and I am glad that I had the opportunity to take part in it.
