Wellbeing

Hey BHPS community
My name is Liam, and I’m the school’s Student Counsellor. I have been working since finishing my placement here 3 years ago now and it’s been an absolute pleasure.
Counselling here at BHPS serves to support students’ overall wellbeing and help them manage challenges that may affect their learning, friendships, or emotional health. A safe and confidential space is given for students to talk about their worries, learn strategies to handle big feelings, and build skills like resilience, confidence, and problem-solving. While a counsellor works closely with teachers and parents to support a child’s growth, their role is not the same as a therapist or psychologist. Instead, it’s more about giving children short-term support within the school setting so they can feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
Outside of work, I enjoy relaxing with family and friends, attending church events, going for runs, and watching sports (particularly footy and soccer), just to name a few.
I’m really looking forward to continuing my counselling work with the students at Bimbadeen Heights and supporting them in their growth and wellbeing.
Hi everyone!
My name is Jan-Christian, but everybody knows me just as JC, and I’m super excited to be joining Bimbadeen Heights Primary as a School Counsellor in training this term.
A little bit about me - I love being a dad, going to the footy (go Blues!), and trying out new recipes. I’m currently studying my Master of Counselling at Deakin University and care deeply about helping children feel heard, valued, and supported. At Bimbadeen Heights, I’ll be working alongside Liam, the Wellbeing Team, and teachers to support students through one-on-one and group counselling sessions, creative activities, and play-based strategies. I’m here to help children build their confidence, manage worries, and strengthen friendships in a safe and welcoming space. I feel very fortunate to be on placement at such a vibrant and caring school community, and I look forward to learning from both the staff and students during my time here.
