Year 7 Girls Volleyball

On Thursday the 28th of August, the Year 7 Girls Volleyball team headed to Daylesford to compete in the Eureka Division tournament.

After being placed in the toughest pool, our first match was against the formidable Daylesford Secondary College,  the queens of the Volleyball court. Despite some great points and big serves, we went down 0-8 to 2-30.

Next, we played the equally tough Ballarat High School. After a slow start, our serving improved, as did our returns, but, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as we went down 0-18 to 2-30.

Our final game, a battle for 5th overall, was against Woodman’s Hill. It was our time to shine. The improvement from the start of the day was clear, with all our team members contributing. The key to success was our serving, as we nailed multiple unplayed serves. We ran away to a 2-10 to 0-19 victory.

A huge thank you to Mr N for training us over the past few weeks and coaching us on the day, something not many placement teachers would do. Thanks also, to Mr Sev for driving the bus and the detour via McDonalds on the way home!

South West Zone Shoot

On Thursday the 28th August, seven BSC students attended the South West Zone Shooting Competition in Noorat. Students Kita Cooper, Tristian and Javiar Drinkwater and Daniel Azzopardi were first time shooters, while Nic Stares, Lachie Fraser and Zac Spicer all have previous experience. Despite the cold, wind and hail, the students performed well, with Nic Stares going through to the next round of competition in Echuca, after competing in a shootout and finishing second in his age group. Congratulations to all students who attended!

Thank you to the parents who transported students to and from the venue and for their support on the day and to Mr Wright for coordinating the event.
