Enterprise Bargaining Agreement Update

As members will be aware, industrial action has recommenced across Victorian government schools as part of the ongoing Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA) negotiations.

We recognise that periods of industrial action create additional complexity for school leaders. Principals are often required to balance their obligations as employees, educational leaders, and managers of school operations, while ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining positive relationships within their school communities.

The APF reminds all Principal Class members to continue following the Department of Education's advice, policies and processes in relation to industrial action. It is important that decisions are made consistently, fairly and in accordance with the Department's published guidance and any subsequent updates.

Given that advice may evolve as industrial action progresses, we strongly encourage members to regularly monitor communications from both the Department and the APF. Timely updates will ensure you are working with the most current information and are aware of any changes to operational expectations or industrial arrangements.

The APF continues to meet with the department and actively represent Principal Class interests throughout the bargaining process. We remain in regular discussions with the Department, advocating for outcomes that recognise the complexity, responsibility and increasing demands of school leadership. We understand the additional pressures industrial action places on principals and will continue to provide practical advice and support as issues arise.

If you are uncertain about how to respond to a particular situation or require assistance interpreting advice, please contact the APF. Our team is available to support members in navigating these challenging circumstances. We also encourage you to use your collegiate networks to discuss how your colleagues are handling the situation.

Thank you for your ongoing professionalism and leadership during this period. Your commitment to your school communities while managing these complex industrial arrangements is greatly appreciated.
