School Review and Our New School Strategic Plan
Over the past few weeks, our College has undertaken its School Review, a mandatory process that every Victorian government school completes every four years. Conducted as part of the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO 2.0), the review examines our past performance, evaluates our current practices, and helps shape the College's School Strategic Plan (SSP) for the next four years.
The Review was led by an independent reviewer and involved the College Principal, our Senior Education Improvement Leader (SEIL), School Council representatives, and external challenge partners. Importantly, the process also drew on the valuable perspectives of students, parents/carers and staff through a range of focus groups and class observations.
Following the review, we have finalised our new four-year School Strategic Plan. The plan is centred on two key goals which are now standard across government schools:
Improving student Learning outcomes; and
Improving student Wellbeing outcomes.
These goals are supported by a series of key improvement strategies and targeted actions that will guide our work over the next four years. Progress will be monitored through school-wide data and measured against the targets established during the review process.
We are excited about the direction of our new Strategic Plan and the opportunities it provides to further strengthen the learning and well-being of every student. Each year, the priorities outlined in the SSP will be implemented through our Annual Implementation Plan, ensuring a clear and focused approach to continuous improvement.
On behalf of the College community, the Principal team would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the review process, including students, parents/carers, staff, School Council representatives and members of the Review Panel. Your feedback and commitment have helped shape the future direction of our College.
College Production – School of Rock
The curtain has now fallen on this year's outstanding College production of School of Rock. Having attended opening night, I was incredibly impressed by the professionalism, confidence and talent displayed by our cast, crew and music ensemble. The quality of the performances and the production as a whole was a credit to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.
Congratulations to all of our students who contributed to making this production such a tremendous success. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the many staff members who supported our students throughout the rehearsal process and performance season. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Nick Gramatakos and his team for their leadership and commitment in delivering yet another exceptional College production.
2027 Subject Selections
Over the past few weeks, students in Years 9 to 11 have been selecting their elective and senior pathway subjects for 2027. This is an important process that enables us to establish class structures and develop the College timetable for the coming year.
By now, all students should have submitted their subject selections. Students who do not submit their preferences will be allocated subjects based on availability.
If you have any questions regarding subject selections, please contact the relevant Sub-school Leader:
Middle School (Years 7-9): James Meaker
Senior School (Years 10–12): Michael Lyristis
Uniform Expectations
A reminder to all students and families about the importance of wearing the correct College uniform every day. As with all schools in our network, Wheelers Hill Secondary College has a compulsory uniform, and we appreciate the support of families in maintaining these expectations.
Please note that hoodies and tracksuit pants (except on designated sports days) are not part of the College uniform. Our uniform supplier, Lowes, has ample stock of all uniform items.
If there are exceptional circumstances that prevent a student from wearing the correct uniform, they should obtain a uniform pass from their relevant Sub-school before classes begin on that day.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain the high standards and sense of pride that our College community values.
