Book Week 2026
Our special fun Book Week Parade and Celebration day is next week!
We can't wait to see everyone dressed up as their favourite book characters!! The whole school morning parade will take place on the new soccer pitch area at 9.15 a.m. Toddlers are encouraged to dress up too.
After the parade, the children will be treated to a day filled with fun book activities and games. Even a buddy scavenger hunt! We will be awarding certificates and prizes for the best costume and also for the best art/craft creation.
Don't forget to order some delicious treats from our "Symphony of Sweets" menu for morning tea and a "Sizzling Score" delicious sausage sizzle for lunch. A big thank you to our wonderful Parents/Friends Committee for organising the special food orders for Book Week. What a delicious treat for our students! We really appreciate all the time and effort that went into making Book Week extra special.
Last Tuesday on 11 August, our year Prep to 2 children enjoyed fun and laughter as they participated in the Book Week adaptation show by the Meerkat Productions group, on one of this year's shortlisted books, "Dear Broccoli" by Jo Dabrowski.
Here are a few of the reflections from the Year 2 children who attended the performance:
Annellie 2E - I liked how the presenters didn't only follow the story in the book, but added extra. For example: Carrot was only mentioned at the end of the book, but in the show, he was in it so much!
Savannah 2C - I liked how the performers kept changing costumes to make themselves into different characters. Broccoli also played the part of the younger brother and the grandpa. It was great to see how only two actors played all the different characters from the book!
Sebastian 2E- The Broccoli was so determined to keep writing letters to Frank because he wanted to persuade him to like Broccoli. That part was really done well!
Isaac 2C - I liked how they made the costumes themselves and not buy them from the shop. For example: Broccoli's costume was made using a helmet, fake grass and plants and pool noodles. So clever!
Raphael 2V - It was a really funny show! When Broccoli changed his voice to make himself cry- that made me laugh!
Jacob 2C - Broccoli made me feel like he was so sad because Frank always left him on the plate and never ate him.
Olivia 2V - I enjoyed the music and singing and the message about friendships. They taught us about being respectful and how to be good friends.
Dion 2V - I gave the show a 9 out of 10 rating! It was funny and a long story, I really liked when Broccoli meditated and danced!
Natalia 2E - I liked how the performers introduced their characters more in the show compared to the book. For example: Grandpa is only on one page in the book, but in the show he appeared more times.
All the children were highly entertained and loved how some children in the audience were chosen to be part of the "Human Expert Team". They were consulted at various times during the performance. It was so much fun!
