Principal's Report:

Retirement:
After much reflection, I would like to share with you all, that I will be retiring at the end of this term.
It has been an absolute privilege to serve as Principal of Kerang Technical High School and to work alongside such dedicated staff, supportive families, and remarkable students.
I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and grateful for the relationships, memories, and experiences that have shaped my time here.
While this decision marks the close of an important chapter for me personally, I leave with great confidence in the School’s strong future and continued commitment to student success and community values.
Thank you all for the support, trust and encouragement you have given me over the years.
I look forward to concluding the term by celebrating our achievements together and wishing the School every success in the years ahead.
The selection process for a new Principal has already commenced with the advertisement of the position.
Year 7 Information Evening – A Strong Community Turnout:
The recent Year 7 Information Evening was very well attended by both parents and students, reflecting the strong interest in and support for our school community. The evening provided valuable information about the transition into secondary schooling, curriculum expectations, and student wellbeing, and was an excellent opportunity for families to engage with staff and ask questions. It was particularly pleasing to note the large number of new families represented on the night, highlighting the growing interest in our School and the welcoming environment we strive to create.
We thank all families who attended and contributed to the positive atmosphere of the evening.
Boys Volleyball Trip to Mildura:
Two KTHS boys’ volleyball teams recently travelled to Mildura to compete in a highly challenging competition. The standard of play was exceptionally strong, with many opposing teams including regular volleyball players, as well as several regional and state representatives. From the outset, our boys were certainly up against it; however, they approached every match with determination, resilience, and a genuine spirit of sportsmanship. Despite the tough opposition, the teams showed great commitment and enthusiasm, and by the end of the competition a marked improvement in skills, teamwork, and confidence was clearly evident. The experience proved to be a valuable learning opportunity for all involved, and the boys should be commended for the way they represented KTHS.
Grade 6 Open Days – A Valuable Insight into KTHS:
The School recently hosted two Open Days for Grade 6 students and their families, with two sessions held during the school day and a second held after school to ensure as many families as possible could attend. These sessions were well received and provided an excellent opportunity for prospective students and parents to gain a firsthand look at our School.
While visiting, families were taken on guided tours of the campus, where they were able to view classrooms and explore the wide range of facilities available to students.
Those who attended the daytime Open Day had the added bonus of seeing the school in operation, experiencing lessons in progress and observing the calm, positive learning environment first-hand.
Feedback from families was extremely encouraging, with several comments highlighting how impressed they were by the size, facilities, and atmosphere of the school.
Remarks such as:
“I didn’t know the school was this big,” “I can’t get over how quiet it is – it’s like there are no students here,” and “It’s changed a lot from when I used to go here” reflected the positive impression KTHS made on visitors.
We thank all families who attended the Open Days and look forward to welcoming many of our Grade 6 visitors as future members of the KTHS community.
