Welcome back to Term 4. I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing holiday.

Thank you to the Lemmer family and Burnett family for looking after the hens over the holidays.

This term, we welcome back the Year 4’s on a Monday to the SAKG program. There is an abundance of crops ready for harvest in the garden. Cabbages, silverbeet, beetroot, pak choy, lettuce, spring onions, and more silverbeet!

Monday was a glorious day to be back in the garden. Students harvested lemon, broccoli, and eggs to make the broccoli slaw and muffins. We then cleaned out the chicken coop. Students scrubbed out the hen's water containers, raked out the coop and put some fresh bedding down.

Tuesday saw rain, rain and more rain! Pink Peppers branches that had been cut from the tree near the chicken coop in term 1 and had dried out in the garden shed, were finally harvested. We picked the peppercorns and either rubbed them in a sieve or on our hands to get the pink husk off.

Other groups of students worked on a community project – more information about that later in the term.

Wishing the Kingswood Community, a happy and successful Term 4!

Happy Gardening
