Accessible Building
Works Progress Update
Angela Dawson
Our accessibility building works continue to progress as we work towards creating a fully accessible-for-all school environment.
Behind the scenes, our architects, builders and engineers have been finalising detailed plans, coordinating trades, and ensuring all necessary approvals and materials are in place for the various stages of work ahead.
This week marks an exciting milestone as we begin the automation of doors across the school. This involves intricate work including changing door mechanisms, installing components within walls, and fitting new wall plates. We have over 25 doors across the school that will be automated as part of this project, ensuring independent access for all members of our school community.
The door automation work has commenced this morning with the toilet facilities and will move into the admin area before progressing to classroom doors. We are carefully scheduling the majority of classroom door works to occur before and after school hours wherever possible to minimise disruption to learning. While some works during school time will be unavoidable, we are working closely with the builders to keep this to an absolute minimum.
This work will continue over the coming weeks, and we appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we transform our school into a place where everyone can access all areas independently.
