SMR Cross Crountry

On Wednesday 25th June, 11 students (and Mr Sanders) braved the wind, rain and hail to compete in the SMR Cross Country event.  Congratulations to the students who made it through to the State competition, which will take place during Term 3.

Term 2 Year 7 Interschool Sport Reflections

Playing netball for interschool sport was such a fun and exciting experience, full of teamwork, energy and positive vibes. It was amazing to compete with other schools, build friendships, and to work together with my team! By Heidi L.

Interschool sport was a great event where we socialised with each other and made new connections and helped Cheltenham get to the finals. We were competitive yet showed some sportsmanship and most importantly we had fun. By Daksh K.

Although we lost the final, the soccer team made it really far winning one and drawing one game. Our team made new connections and showed multiple forms of sportsmanship while also being competitive against the other team. Overall the soccer team had lots of fun playing with each other. By Spencer H.

We really appreciate the teachers and the umpires for being there to support us and control games. We also really appreciate the year 11 's for giving up their time to coach us and making the teams or we wouldn't have been able to play so we really appreciate their time and effort. By Ryder C.

Hello, it's Fletcher. I'm writing about the Cheltenham interschool sport soccer tournament.  We had a great experience and had lots of fun playing soccer games the B team played 2 games and the A team had 3 games because they made it through to the finals but sadly lost but they were having a lot of fun playing and being out of school  we all had a great time using teamwork to win the games. The B team won 1 game and lost the other , the A team won 1 and drew the 2nd and lost the 3rd but we all had a fun time and a great experience.  By Fletcher B.

Chess Victoria Zonal Tournament

Each week at Cheltenham Secondary College, the lunchtime Chess Club buzzes with quiet intensity as students gather to test their tactical thinking in rapid-format games. Born out of the try-outs and training sessions for the prestigious Avenues Exchange chess team, the club has blossomed into a supportive and inclusive hub for players of all experience levels. With chess boards clicking and strategies unfolding, it’s become a space where students challenge themselves intellectually and enjoy a friendly, competitive atmosphere.

Recently, a team of four passionate and talented students proudly represented Chelt.Sec at a major interschool chess tournament. Facing off against 173 competitors across 32 teams from a dozen schools, the team demonstrated remarkable skill, teamwork, and composure under pressure. Their outstanding performance, 10 wins and one draw, earned them admiration from peers and coaches alike.

Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just learning the rules, the Chess Club welcomes all students keen to sharpen their minds and enjoy the timeless game of chess.

Event planning

This term, our excursion policy and Compass events have been tightened, in particular, the time that events need to be consented to and paid for. Thank you for your understanding, as we work with these new timelines. These timelines have been put in place to ensure that all processes of event planning can be met. All events, including Interschool Sport, require permission and payment one week before the event. If you have any sport related questions contact Karly Hargreaves har@cheltsec.vic.edu.au
