Kindergarten News

Children love doing things that adults do in real life. Cooking provides children with an opportunity to learn life skills and learn about healthy eating. Last week, the Correa children make a big pot of minestrone soup. It provided an opportunity for the children to look at , discuss and taste different vegetables as well as supporting their autonomy, independence and agency. Child safe cutters were provided and the children helped to chop everything for the soup. This was a great way for the children to work on their fine motor skills too, developing finger,, hand and shoulder strength. After the chopping was done, 2 helpers took the food scraps to the worm farm.
Most of the children tasted the soup and some even came back for seconds!
