Last Monday was a remarkable day as we gathered to raise awareness for the Pettet Foundation and its vital support within our community. I extend my gratitude to Mr Ross, Mr Sutherland, Mrs Gniel, Mr Dawson, and Mr Taylor for their exceptional organisation, ensuring the day's success.
During the day, students participated in a Poppy Tribes session, focusing on giving back and gratitude. Guided by our Year 6 leaders, they explored the story of 'Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed' illustrating how one child's act of kindness can have a profound impact. I commend the Student Wellbeing team - Miss Munforte, Miss Brincat, Mr Grecea, Mrs Quah, Mrs Kaur, Miss Hahn, and Ms Grigg - for their excellent coordination of the Poppy Tribes session.
One exceptional student, Ella C from Year 1, was moved by the story and committed to performing a good deed. While participating in Trick or Treating on Tuesday evening, she raised an impressive $67.50 for the Pettet Foundation by requesting donations instead of treats. Bravo, Ella! Your act of kindness has the power to inspire others, sparking a chain reaction of goodwill worldwide.
Today, our students eagerly participated in various activities, including Chinese classical music, dance, drumming, and martial arts. The day is designed to assist our students to be open to learning about a diverse cultures and fosters inclusivity and acceptance.
The day's highlight was the captivating Chinese Lion Dance, offering valuable learning experiences.
I'm grateful to Mrs Bian for coordinating this culturally enriching event that broadened our students' global awareness.
Additionally, we're actively exploring reestablishing our sister school relationship with Jinling Primary School in China and organising a Term 3 exchange trip for our 5/6 students next year.
We are currently in the process of planning the school structure for 2024. If your child or children will not be attending POPS next year, kindly inform us via email.
Additionally, if you have specific social, emotional, or learning requests or things for us to consider when placing your child in a class, please email me before the close of business on Friday, November 10th. Please be aware that we do not take requests for teachers.
Have a great long weekend (for some!),
Ms Garrity (Principal)
