Gold Coast Eisteddfod
Concert Band
The Tallebudgera Senior Concert Band recently attended the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, delivering a fantastic performance that showcased their hard work, dedication and musical talent.
The band performed three pieces: Geronimo, Secret Caverns, and The Banana Boat Song. They played with confidence and gave their very best on the day, earning a Silver Award for their performance. They were also delighted to receive a “Highly Commended” judgement from the adjudicator, recognising the high standard of their musicianship.
This achievement is a wonderful reflection of the commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm demonstrated by all members of the band. Congratulations to the Tallebudgera Senior Concert Band on a fantastic performance and a well-deserved result!
Strings
There is something quite magical about watching young musicians realise they are capable of doing something they once thought impossible.
Over the past few months, our string groups have been learning far more than notes and rhythms. They’ve been learning how to listen deeply, practise patiently, work together and find the courage to perform in front of others. Music has a beautiful way of teaching us that progress isn’t about perfection, it’s about showing up, one small step (or one squeaky note!) at a time.
This term, we are delighted to have had two of our string ensembles representing our school at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.
Our Year 3 ensemble, Starlight Strings, got 2nd place and a Gold standard award while performing Curtain Raiser and Backstreet Boogie. These students have embraced the challenge of learning together with enthusiasm and joy, and it has been wonderful to watch their confidence grow each week.
Our Year 4–6 ensemble, Staccato Strings, got 3rd place and a Gold standard award while performing Chicken in the Kitchen and The Red Lion. This group has worked incredibly hard to refine their playing and support one another as an ensemble, bringing energy, commitment and plenty of musical spirit to their rehearsals.
Performing at an eisteddfod is about so much more than receiving a result. It is an opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, celebrate the hard work that happens behind the scenes and experience the joy of making music together. It takes courage to walk onto a stage and share something you’ve practised and nurtured with an audience.
We are already so proud of each and every student for saying “yes” to the experience. No matter what the results on the day, they have already achieved something worth celebrating.
Please join us in congratulating Starlight Strings and Staccato Strings as they all did their very best on the stage. It’s about making beautiful music and wonderful memories along the way.
