Grade 1 & 2
Term 3 - Week 8
These last four weeks have certainly been quite eventful with lots of learning and fun activities along the way.
In Week 5, while learning about the moon, the children went on a virtual trip to the moon. Beginning with the countdown, the children travelled to the moon, having various roles, like commander, pilot, medical officer, engineers, security guards. Travel sickness proved quite a problem. Then, after stepping on the moon with their left foot first, the children walked on the moon, fell in craters and, at times, may have been a little lost in space. The children then wrote wonderful stories about their adventures.

In Week 7, we all celebrated Book Week, beginning with dress up day. We all dressed up as lots of fun and amazing characters. During the week we read and worked on some of the Short Listed books called ‘The Emperor’s Egg’ by Rae Tan, ‘My Nonno Loves’ by Adele and Claudia Frittitta and ‘The Colours of Home’ by Sally Soweol Han. It was a wonderful week to celebrate.

During the Inquiry lessons, we learnt about the moon and the stars. Last week we learnt about the phases of the moon, these are new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, and waning crescent. Together we have all learnt about our place in space, day and night, and it has been very interesting.

A very big warm ‘Happy Father’s Day’ wish to all our wonderful dads and special people. We hope you all have a great day.
Term 3 is quickly coming to an end, with just two more weeks, and we would like to wish you all a wonderful and safe holidays!
