Pope Leo XIV’s Prayer Intention – September
This September, Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray for the care of water. Water is a precious gift from God and a vital resource that sustains all life. The Pope calls us to pray for the just and sustainable management of water, so that everyone may have equal access to this essential resource.
As a school community, we are encouraged to reflect on how we can care for God’s creation through the small choices we make each day — using water wisely, avoiding waste and appreciating this precious gift.
💧 A Family Water Detective Challenge!
This month, why not become Water Detectives at home? Take a walk around your house together and see how many ways your family can save and reuse water.
Children could:
- 🚿 Time their shower and see if they can make it a couple of minutes shorter.
- 🪥 Turn the tap off while brushing their teeth.
- 💦 Find ways to reuse water, such as using leftover drinking water to water a plant.
- 🔎 Look for dripping taps or leaks.
- 🌱 Collect rainwater to use in the garden.
Then, as a family, choose one new water-saving habit to try for the week.
It’s a simple way to turn Pope Leo’s prayer intention into action and remind our children that caring for water is one way we can care for God’s creation and our common home. Why not see how creative your family can be?
