📚🎶 BOOK WEEK! 🎶📚

What a fabulous Book Week we had last week! It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate the joy of reading, stories and literacy.

Our Book Week Dress-Up Parade was spectacular once again! 🎭 The creativity and enthusiasm shown by our students was fantastic, with so many wonderful characters from favourite books coming to life throughout the school.

A huge thank you to all our parents and families for the time, effort and creativity that went into organising costumes. We know some of those costumes take a great deal of preparation, and we truly appreciate your support in making Book Week such a special celebration for our children.

It was a wonderful reminder of the important place that books, stories and a love of reading have in our school community. 📚

💙 Father’s Day Breakfast

What a wonderful morning we had at our Father’s Day Breakfast! We were so thrilled with the amazing turnout and the happy, buzzing atmosphere around the school.

Families enjoyed coffee, delicious ham and cheese croissants and biscuits, as well as some fun games with dads and special friends. It was so lovely to see so many smiling faces and, most importantly, so many very happy children who were excited to have their dads and special people join them at school — particularly those who don’t often get the opportunity to be here during the school day.

A very big thank you to all the wonderful mums who helped prepare and make this such a memorable morning. Your time and effort are very much appreciated.

It was a beautiful way to celebrate the special people in our children’s lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special! 💙

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️District Athletics🏅

Congratulations to the following children who represented St Mary's at the District 

On Wednesday 26 th August, a large number of students competed in the Northcote District Athletics Carnival at Coburg Athletics Track.

The students competed very well and enjoyed the day against 9 other schools in the Northcote Area. Congratulations to the following students who represented our school:

A big thank you to Miss Riley and Ms Sarina for their support and help on the day and to all of the parents who came and supported the students on the day.

All of our competitors demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship throughout the day and represented our school with pride. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and supported their fellow competitors. 🏃‍♀️🏅

🎶 Mad on Music Concert

On Tuesday evening, our St Mary’s students had the wonderful opportunity to perform in the Mad on Music Concert. After working hard throughout the year to learn songs and develop their skills on a range of instruments, it was fantastic to see all their hard work come together on stage.

A huge congratulations and well done to Liam, John and Ari for representing St Mary’s and participating in the concert. We heard that you were all fantastic performers!

Well done, boys — we are so proud of you! 🎶👏

Police Memorial Service

This week, I (Michelle C) had the privilege of taking our School Captains, Daisy and Hugh, to the Police Memorial at All Nations Park in Northcote.

It was a beautiful and meaningful experience. Daisy and Hugh represented St Mary’s so proudly, reading the poem The Corporal and His Pal beautifully as part of the service.

We are incredibly proud of our School Captains and the respectful and thoughtful way they represented our school. It was a very special experience that they will remember for a long time. ❤️💙

🍿Friday Market

Get ready for our Friday Market on September 11 at 3:30pm! 

Our 3/4 students are looking forward to hosting a fun afternoon for our school community. Come along, enjoy the atmosphere, support our students and grab a few goodies while you’re here!

⏰A Reminder About Being On Time ⏰

A gentle reminder to families about the importance of getting children to school on time each morning. 

The beginning of the school day is valuable learning time.  Each morning, teachers share the structure and expectations for the day, and children have the opportunity to settle in, connect with their classmates and prepare for the learning ahead.

Arriving on time helps children start the day feeling calm, confident and ready to learn. We appreciate your support in ensuring children are at school and settled before the school day begins. 

A Little Time Away ✈️🍀🏴

As I mentioned in the last Newsletter, I will be taking some long service leave from Wednesday 2 September, which is my last day at school for the term, through to the end of Week 1 of Term 4. My husband and I are taking the opportunity to travel through Ireland and Scotland – something we’re both very much looking forward to!

During my absence, Michelle will step into the role of Acting Principal. I know the school community will be in very good hands with Michelle leading the team. She knows our school, our students and our families well, and I have every confidence that everything will run smoothly in my absence.

In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys the final weeks of term, has a wonderful and restful school holiday break, and enjoys some special time with family and friends. I’ll see you all when I return in Term 4! 💙
