From the Principal...

Hi everyone and welcome to the last newsletter edition for the term.
Thank-you for a wonderful term at MEPS. Across the term we have enjoyed and celebrated many learning moments and extra curricular experiences for our amazing students.
Congratulations to all the students for their efforts and fantastic aptitude to their learning across the term. Also to our dedicated staff team for all of their outstanding work this term.
Wishing everyone a wonderful school holiday break and the chance to rest and re-charge for a big 11 weeks ahead in term 4.
Sports Colours
Today we enjoyed sports colours day and it was great to see everyone supporting their favourite teams!
If your team is still in the AFL finals race, good luck! Go Hawks!
MEET and Year 3 have been doing a wonderful job with our gardening program and OzHarvest program across the term. This week enjoying harvesting the lovely fresh lettuce that help to bolster some salads across the school.
We always appreciate the help of our supportive parents whom have come along to support these programs throughout term 3.
R U OK? Day
Last week, our school community came together to celebrate R U OK? Day and remind ourselves that a simple question can make a big difference: “Are you OK?”
R U OK? Day encourages us to look out for the people around us and to take the time to check in with our friends, classmates, teachers and family members. Our students explored the importance of being kind, noticing when someone might not be feeling their best and being willing to listen.
Throughout the day, students participated in activities and discussions about friendship, kindness and looking after one another. We talked about how everyone has good days and difficult days, and that it is always OK to ask for help when we need it.
Our students also learned that asking “Are you OK?” is just the beginning. We can ask, listen, encourage and check in. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is simply be there for someone and let them know they are not alone.
We are incredibly proud of the caring and supportive community our students help create every day. Let’s continue to look out for one another, include others, show kindness and remember that a small act of caring can have a big impact.
Remember: You don’t have to be an expert to ask. Sometimes, simply asking “Are you OK?” can make someone’s day a little brighter.
MEPS Golf Day
The inaugural MEPS golf day was a huge success last Friday with many of our MEPS Dads and Grandads enjoying the opportunity to chase a ball around the fairways and greens but also to connect with other MEPS people! This will mark the start of an annual event and we hope to grow this experience in 2027. Special and HUGE thank-you to Dougy Lay for his sensational work in organizing, co-ordinating and functioning this very enjoyable day out! (also to Mrs. Hille for lots of the background work in support of the event!)
Year 6 camp
This was a wonderful experience for our eldest group of students to enjoy! Everyone enjoyed the adventure based activities, getting filthy through the mud run, camping in tents for a night and sharing in loads of fun and connection across the three days.
Thank-you to the staff for their support: Ms. Nevin, Mr. Bell, Mrs. Humphreys, Courtney and to our amazing parents for their help and support across the camp experience; Sheree and Luke.
District Athletics
What an amazing day of competition and performance. The students involved did an amazing job representing themselves and the school. Congratulations to everyone and also to those students who have now qualified for the Division Athletics, to be held next term. Well done and good luck!

Sunsmart
Just a friendly reminder that from 1st September through to the end of April, all students are required to wear a sun-safe school hat whenever they're outside.
This is part our Sunsmart policy to help keep everyone safe in the sun. Our "No Hat, No Play" rule will be in place throughout term 4 — students without a hat will need to stay in the shaded areas during recess and lunch. Please ensure that all hats are clearly named and labelled whilst we build our summer habits.
To be sun-safe, hats must be a school broad-brimmed style hat, which protect the face, neck, and ears.
If your child needs a new hat, the school uniform shop is available.
Thanks for helping us keep our students safe and sun-smart! 😎
