Year 10 Subject Selection Spotlight - Why Study Chemistry in Stage 6?

Chemistry opens diverse pathways, supporting careers in health, engineering, environmental science, agriculture, and more.
Studying chemistry builds valuable skills like problem‑solving, analysis and scientific thinking that transfer across many fields.
There are many alternative pathways to university, including foundation programs, TAFE/VET study, bridging courses, portfolio entry and internal uni schemes.
Students who don’t meet entry requirements still have options, such as transferring from related courses, completing vocational qualifications, or applying through special access programs.

Remote Area Nurse

Remote Area Nurses provide essential primary and emergency care in isolated communities, often acting as the sole healthcare professional on site.
They need strong clinical skills, independence, cultural awareness and adaptability, working across everything from emergencies to community health programs.
Pathways include a nursing degree, broad clinical experience, and specialised remote‑health training, with opportunities to progress into leadership, specialist roles, or rural health programs.
