Prep

At the end of last term, the Prep students had a walking excursion to the local shopping centre to do a tour of the Coles supermarket. This was aligned with our Inquiry Learning focus which was keeping our bodies healthy and safe and how food is grown, stored and distributed within the community.

The Preps enjoyed a baby-chino at the local cafe when we got to Vermont Shopping Centre. Then we had a tour of Coles with the store manager, who spoke about Coles' relationship with farmers who grow the produce, how food is dropped off at the store in the truck loading bay, how food is safely stored and why it is important to maintain a healthy diet. The Preps particularly enjoyed seeing the truck unloading, hearing from the onsite baker and deli supervisor and collecting items from our shopping list before we headed back to school to enjoy some yummy wraps!

What a wonderful excursion we had. Thank you to the parent helpers, it was great to have so much support for such a worthwhile experience.

Kind Regards,

Melinda Michalski
