A Word from the Acting Principal 

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break and is feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning. It has been wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm and energy, ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to the four new students and their families who have joined the Weeden Heights Primary School community this term. We are delighted to have you with us and hope you quickly feel at home.

 Term 3 is always a busy and exciting time in schools, with many wonderful learning opportunities, events and experiences ahead. I look forward to seeing our students continue to challenge themselves, celebrate their successes and make the most of every opportunity to learn and grow.

 It is a privilege to introduce myself as the Acting Principal of Weeden Heights Primary School for the first seven weeks of Term 3. I am delighted to be joining this wonderful school community and am looking forward to getting to know the students, staff and families over the coming weeks.

 For the past six years I have been the Assistant Principal at Scoresby Primary School and have also had the opportunity to undertake periods as Acting Principal. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every child deserves to feel valued, supported and challenged to achieve their personal best. I am passionate about building positive relationships, maintaining high expectations and creating a school environment where every student can thrive.

 One of the things I enjoy most about school leadership is being visible in classrooms and around the school, celebrating student success and working alongside staff to provide the very best learning opportunities for every child.

 Outside of school, I have two teenage children who keep life interesting. I'm also a passionate netball fan and love cheering on the Melbourne Vixens. When I have some downtime, you'll usually find me with a good book or enjoying a great Netflix series.

 Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome I have already received. I am excited to be part of the Weeden Heights community and look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, supportive families and wonderful students over the coming weeks. Together, I am confident we will make Term 3 a rewarding and successful one for every child.

Camp Manyung

What a fantastic time our students had at Camp Manyung! One of the unique aspects of Weeden Heights Primary School is our whole-school camp, with students attending for different lengths of time depending on their year level. This provides every student with the opportunity to experience camp, challenge themselves and create lasting memories alongside their classmates.

 From all accounts, the camp was a tremendous success. Students embraced new experiences, demonstrated resilience, encouraged one another and, most importantly, had an incredible amount of fun. It was wonderful to hear so many stories of students stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new activities and building friendships across the school.

 A huge thank you to all of our staff who generously gave up their time to attend camp and support our students throughout the week. Your care, enthusiasm and dedication ensured that every child had a positive and memorable experience. A special thank you also goes to David, who did an outstanding job coordinating every aspect of the camp. Organising a whole-school camp is no small feat, and we sincerely appreciate the countless hours of planning and effort that went into making it such a successful week for everyone.

Specialist Teacher Parent-Teacher Interviews

Over the past two weeks, our specialist teachers have also been involved in Parent-Teacher Interviews. It was wonderful to see so many families take the opportunity to meet with our specialist teachers and discuss their child's learning and progress in subjects such as Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts, Language and STEAM.

 Strong partnerships between home and school play an important role in supporting student success, and we greatly appreciate the time families took to connect with our specialist staff. Thank you to our specialist teachers for their time and commitment in preparing for these conversations and sharing valuable insights into each student's learning.

Student-Led Conferences

Our Student-Led Conferences will be held on Monday 27 July and Tuesday 28 July. If you haven't already done so, please ensure you book a time to meet with your child's teacher.

Student-Led Conferences provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their learning, celebrate their achievements and reflect on their goals with their families. We look forward to seeing you and working together to support your child's ongoing learning and success.

AEU Stop-Work Action

The AEU stop-work action will take place on Thursday 23 July. A small number of our teachers will be participating, and some students will therefore be placed in other classrooms across the school.

We will run a modified timetable for the day rather than our full teaching and learning program. The school will remain open, and all students attending will be safely supervised by the staff available.
