Farewelling Our Beloved Principal, Mr John Metcalfe

As we draw near to the end of the school year, our college community has been blessed with a series of special events to honour and farewell our much-loved Principal, Mr Metcalfe. Each occasion has reflected the joy, gratitude, and deep respect we hold for his faithful leadership.

This week, students and staff alike joined in celebrations across the college: a lighthearted funny hat party in the Early Years, a cherished visit with Kinder, a spirited volleyball match with the Junior School, and a pizza lunch with our newly appointed Secondary leaders for 2026. These moments captured the warmth and connection Mr Metcalfe has fostered throughout his time at PVCC.

Today, the entire college gathered for a moving assembly. Thoughtful gifts, heartfelt reflections, and songs of gratitude were offered in recognition of the way Mr Metcalfe has humbly led, faithfully served, and left a lasting mark on our community over the past nine years. The assembly concluded with a joyful guard of honour, as students lined the paths to cheer him on in a memorable farewell—departing on the back of a Harley Davidson, ridden by the Rev Dave Fuller, who is the God Squad international VP.

Mr Metcalfe’s legacy at PVCC is one of Christ-centred leadership, servant-hearted dedication, and genuine care for every student and staff member. We give thanks to God for his ministry among us and pray His richest blessings over the next chapter of Mr Metcalfe’s journey.

We are excited to join together as a whole College community to sing carols and give praise to our Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

We hope to see you there!

Edify Magazine Launch 2025!

Recently our annual school creative writing magazine Edify was launched for 2025. We enjoyed a lunchtime gathering with readings from contributors and celebratory chocolates in the secondary library. Our editorial team of year 9-11 students worked hard to collate, proofread and present a truly beautiful magazine, with the overarching theme of Memories. Well done editors!

Edify magazine exists to support and encourage the Plenty Valley Christian College community in their written and artistic expression. We recognise that our God called the world into being through language and that as we are made in His image, our creations reflect His glory. Each year an editorial committee of students form to promote writing, celebrate creativity and facilitate our school magazine. Students and staff are encouraged to submit work which both supports the year’s theme and fulfills the requirement of edification. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us to “encourage one another and build each other up” as an important expression of Christian community.

Parents are invited to peruse and enjoy our 2025 Edify edition through this link:
