Matilda's Success
In a unique achievement, I was the first student to graduate from the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) at Seymour College this year. As a Year 11 student, I successfully completed the Year 12 subject, Extended Investigation, which was a highly demanding and time consuming nine-month course that had a profound impact on my academic learning.
The course itself was a massive rollercoaster, it took a lot of work, but it was so worth it in the end, and it pushed me further than I ever thought possible.
I had to develop my own scientific research question and over the span of nine months conduct an investigation on the topic chosen and produce a series of reports, essays, and external presentations. My question being: How do conservation projects impact animals born in and out of captivity?
Successfully completing this investigation provided me with practical knowledge in my intended field of study, confirming my dedication and giving me a clear competitive edge moving forward.
CHES gave me new opportunities to reach out to people who I never even imagined contacting. It allowed me to make new friends and form new relationships. It taught me what it was like to want to complete something with passion and dedication. Despite encountering inevitable challenges and complexities, the successful completion of this course ultimately served as a powerful validation of my resilience, commitment, and true academic capability.

Elevate Study Skills Programs
On the first day of term one, our senior school students will participate in Elevate Education programs.
The focus for Year 12 will be 'Finishing Line', Year 11 'Study Sensei' and Year 10 is 'Time Management'.
Elevate’s study skills seminars are designed to achieve behavioural change amongst students. It isn’t enough that students simply understand what they need to do in their study. The challenge in any study skills program is getting students to use and apply the skills they learn.
