Year 11 Media students are developing strong, industry-relevant skills through their work with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. These powerful creative tools are widely used across the media and design industries, providing students with authentic, hands-on experience in contemporary digital production.
Students are building their expertise in visual storytelling, with a particular focus on the design and manipulation of movie posters and the conventions of news reporting. Through this work, they are learning how media messages are carefully constructed to engage and influence specific target audiences.

Across the unit, students are developing essential technical and creative capabilities, combining original photography with supplied imagery to produce professional-quality visuals and video content. These skills form a strong foundation for further study and future pathways in media, communications and digital production industries.
In Week 8 of Term 1, Year 12 Media students attended the VCAA Top Screen exhibition at ACMI in Federation Square. This showcase features the best student films from across Victoria in 2025. Following the screening, students participated in a Q&A session with the student filmmakers and visited the Games World exhibition.

The excursion is designed to inspire and inform students’ own productions, which they have begun developing and will continue to refine over the course of the year. Stay tuned for when our students’ final films will be shown on the big screen at the Sun Theatre, Yarraville in Term 4.
