MPS Scholar takes
on
the World!
We are incredibly proud to announce a massive academic achievement by one of our own! Year 5 student Oliver Law recently represented Marangaroo Primary School at the World Scholar's Cup, Perth Regional Round, and his results were absolutely spectacular.
Competing in the Junior Division against students up to Year 8, ten-year-old Oliver proved that age is just a number. Over the two-day academic tournament, he competed in team debate, collaborative writing, and university level academic challenges. He walked away with an incredible seven medals in total, including 5 Gold and 2 Silver!
Oliver's highlights from the weekend include:
Ranking 17th out of over 100 Junior Teams, defeating students several years older than him!
Furthermore, out of hundreds of competitors, Oliver's debate scores were so elite that he was hand-picked to sit on the prestigious Debate Showcase Judging Panel, judging high school senior debaters on the main stage.
Oliver's strategic thinking does not stop at debate. He also recently secured 2nd Place at a local Perth chess tournament, notably defeating last year's Under-8 Champion!
Because of his elite performance, Oliver has officially qualified to represent Western Australia at the World Scholar's Cup Global Round in Bangkok, Thailand this August. He will be competing against thousands of top scholars from over 60 different countries.
Congratulations, Oliver! The entire Marangaroo Primary community is cheering you on as you prepare to head to Bangkok!
