Keeping Up to Date with COMPASS Payments & Consents
Please note that payments and consent for most school events and excursions are now completed through COMPASS. As a result, paper consent forms will no longer be sent home.
Throughout the year, there are many activities including excursions, camps, sport and swimming programs that require both parent consent and payment by the advertised due date. To ensure your child can participate, it is important that all permissions and payments are completed on time via COMPASS.
Unfortunately, late payments and consents can only be accepted in exceptional circumstances, even if the event has not yet taken place. When deadlines are missed, students may be unable to attend the activity.
We understand this can be disappointing for families, so we encourage parents and carers to regularly check COMPASS notifications and complete all required forms and payments promptly.
Please ensure COMPASS consent and payment are completed by the due dates listed below so your child can participate in these upcoming activities:
If you experience any difficulties accessing COMPASS or making payments, please contact our office staff who will be happy to assist.
Student Illness
It's that time of year where there are lots of nasty illnesses travelling around the school community.
A reminder that if your child has vomited or had diarrhoea at home, they must refrain from attending school for at least 24 hours as per DET guidelines below.
| In an outbreak of gastroenteritis, exclude until there has not been vomiting or a loose bowel motion for 48 hours, and for all other diarrhoeal illnesses exclude until there has not been vomiting or a loose bowel motion for 24 hours |
If your child has cold and flu symptoms, please do not send them to school. Coughing, sneezing and runny noses will result in a phone call to home/work to collect your child from school.
If your child is absent from school for any reason, please ensure you update their attendance via Compass or call the office before 11am so an SMS is not activated. This helps us maintain accurate records and ensures the safety and wellbeing of all students.
We appreciate your support in helping us to keep our staff and students as protected as we can!
Our school wins $22,657 Government grant for new sound systems
Five new Phonak hearing loop systems to be installed across school to support all students and staff
"This grant is a wonderful recognition of our commitment to making our school a place where every student can participate fully."
We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with our school community. Our school has been awarded a grant of $22,657.50 (excluding GST) through the Federal Government's Accessible Buildings Program (ABP) — a program dedicated to improving accessibility and inclusion across Australian schools.
The funding will be used to purchase and install five Phonak sound systems at our school. Phonak is a world-leading brand in assistive hearing technology, and their sound field systems are designed to ensure that speech and instruction can be clearly heard by every person in a room, particularly benefiting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, those with auditory processing difficulties, and anyone who learns best when sound is delivered clearly and consistently.
The Accessible Buildings Program is a Federal Government initiative that funds infrastructure improvements to help educational settings meet the needs of students and staff with disabilities. Being assessed and approved for this grant is a testament to the strong application put forward by our school and our ongoing commitment to inclusive education.
These systems will make a genuine and lasting difference to the daily experience of students and teachers across our school. Whether in the classroom, the hall, or shared learning spaces, clearer sound means better engagement, less fatigue, and a more equitable environment for everyone.
Stories to Share, Thanks to Moe Lions Club
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Moe Lions Club for their generous donation of four boxes of picture books and four boxes of chapter books to our school.
These wonderful new resources will be a valuable addition to our library and classroom collections, helping to further support and inspire our students’ love of reading. The picture books will delight our younger readers, while the chapter books will provide engaging new stories for our more confident readers to enjoy and explore.
We are truly appreciative of the Moe Lions Club’s ongoing support of our school community and their commitment to encouraging literacy and learning in young people. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on our students for years to come.
Thank you once again, Moe Lions Club, for your thoughtful and meaningful contribution.

Tanjil Valley Art Show
The Tanjil Valley Art Show is set to return over the King’s Birthday long weekend in June, offering a wonderful celebration of creativity for the whole community. Open to artists of all ages and skill levels, the event provides a fantastic platform to showcase a diverse range of artistic talent.
For our school, the art show is a particularly exciting opportunity to highlight the incredible work being created by our students. It allows young artists to share their creativity beyond the classroom and connect with a wider audience, building confidence and pride in their achievements.
Mrs. Brown will be shortlisting student work early in the term, selecting pieces that best represent the talent and effort across our school. Students who wish to submit an artwork independently are also encouraged to do so. Entries can be completed via the QR code, with artworks then submitted to Mrs. Brown to be included in the Under 13 Youth collection for the exhibition.
Parents and carers are also invited to get involved as well. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or simply enjoy creating, the Tanjil Valley Art Show is a great event to share your work with the community.
For full details, including terms and conditions, please visit the Baw Baw Arts Alliance.
Breakfast Club
What a fantastic start to Term 2 it's been for the Breakfast Club at Traf Primary School! Our kitchen has been full of energy, serving up hot toast, cheesy toasties, warm Milos and cereal to make sure every student kicks off their day with a nutritious breakfast.
None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity of our sponsors. A huge thank you to IGA Trafalgar, Gracie's Bakery, Baker's Delight Mid Valley and Foodbank for their ongoing donations and support throughout the year — your contributions make a real difference to our school community.
As well as daily breakfasts, we continue to offer Care Packages for families who need a little extra support. If you or someone you know would benefit from a free Care Package, please pop into the School Office or have a chat with Mrs Marslen. All enquiries are welcome and completely private.
Donations of Milo or jam are greatly appreciated and can be dropped at the School Office. Thank you for your continued support of Breakfast Club! 🍞☕

Student Attitudes to School Survey (Years 4–6)
Over the coming weeks, students in Years 4–6 will have the opportunity to take part in the annual Student Attitudes to School Survey. This is an important statewide survey that gives students a voice about their experience at school—what helps them learn, how they feel about their relationships, and their overall sense of wellbeing.
At Trafalgar Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on listening to our students. The insights from this survey help us reflect on our practice and continue to strengthen the learning environment, wellbeing supports, and engagement opportunities we provide.
The data is used at both a school and system level to guide improvements and ensure we are meeting the needs of all learners.
The survey will be completed online at school between 11 May and 12 June, takes around 20–40 minutes, and is entirely voluntary. Students can skip any questions or stop at any time. All responses are confidential, and results are reported only in grouped form, ensuring no individual student can be identified.
Please take a moment to read the attached letter, which provides more detailed information, including how to opt out if you choose.
We value the opportunity for our students to share their perspectives, and we thank families for supporting this important process.

Mother's Day Stalls
We would like to thank students and their families for purchasing Mother's Day gifts last week. Over 300 cards and 660 gifts were sold that we hope were a nice surprise for the mums, grandparents, carers and other loved ones on their special day. We raised just over $2600 for our school which is a fantastic outcome.
A big thank you to the parents that offered their time to help manage our stalls across the two days. We had a record 14 helpers on Thursday which was the most we've ever had in attendance. If anyone would like to add their name to the list to help for our upcoming events (such as the Father's Day stalls in September) please let us know with a quick email. We now have the fun task of searching for all new and exciting gift ideas for 2027!
