Mathmatics

In Maths students are interpreting and comparing data sets including column graphs, bar charts and line graphs. They are comparing distributions in terms of mode, range and shape. Students are engaging in learning opportunities to assist them in identifying and describing the properties of prime, composite, square and triangular numbers and using these properties to solve problems and simplify calculations.

Throughout this term, students will also engage in learning opportunities related to BODMASOrder of Operations, explore and order integers- negative numbers, including real life examples such as temperature. Students will also locate and represent integers on a number line and as coordinates on the Cartesian plane.

The school has purchased a subscription for an online tool, Maths Online, for Year 6 students to use at school as well as part of Home Learning, to consolidate mathematical concepts taught and to develop fluency in times tables and number sense skills. Students have been given their own username and password.
