In our Lenten unit, Seeking Justice, Year 6 are looking outward to the global community. Students are learning that Lent is a time to prepare our hearts by standing in solidarity with the vulnerable. We are studying how poverty 'breaks the web' of a child’s needs and how, inspired by Pope Francis, we can use our voices to defend the rights of children everywhere.
Our learning journey takes us from personal reflection to global advocacy, using the story of St.Josephine Bakhita as our guide for hope and restoration. We will then move on to exploring the root causes of global poverty and our Christian call to promote the dignity of every person. By studying the work of Caritas International and Project Compassion, students are learning how their own Lenten actions can help restore human dignity to children in our global family.
