enjoyable Winter Magic Market, that we announce this year the market raised just over $27,000.  In the 2023 School budget, and based on outcomes from the prior year, the Winter Magic Market community event was predicted to bring in revenue of around $55,000 with a potential profit of $35,000. After discussion at School Council, this year it was agreed most prices at the market would not be increased, however, as with all things, the costs for the market were 22% higher leading to somewhat lower than anticipated profits.  Revenue for all stalls is detailed below.Amusements$              11,688.30 Art Auction$               6,533.40 Baked Potatoes$               1,705.00 Bar$               8,229.50 BBQ$               1,877.54 Book Stall$               2,007.25 Cake Stall$               4,741.90 Chai$                   545.00 Coffee$                   595.00 Curry$               2,052.50 Disco$                     63.90 Glitter Tattoos$               1,210.50 Lemonade Stand$               1,484.50 Pancakes$                   994.00 Spit Roast$               4,234.48 Toy Stall$                   830.85 Treat Stall$               2,553.60   Total Revenue for All Stalls$             51,347.22   Total Costs$             24,305.86   Total Funds Raised$             27,041.36  It was wonderful to see the volunteering spirit is still alive and well in our students with so many of them following the example of their parents and supporting the event by volunteering on a stall.  It was a fun and unexpected addition to also have the opportunity to watch and celebrate the Women’s World Cup together.  A huge thank you to all the volunteer teams detailed below – We really appreciate the many parents who juggled looking after their kids, enjoying themselves, and generously donating their time to volunteer during the event. Set-Up TeamAman Dhillon Chris GillDarren D'Emanuele Diana KrauseDonna Smith Elizabeth Dempsey Emily MyerGeua MontanaJacqui WardKelly Davis Linda FarkasLinda ReilingLucy D'Emanuele Megan ForbesNeville DavisPeter HeilmannPieter StellingwerffPip Jolliffe Sarah purcellUndercover BarAaron Hemsley Ann BrennanBen FergusonBen TateBill KyriakopoulosDan HampseyDaniele Filippi Dave CollinsGeua MontanaGiselle Cooke Jacqueline TateMatt RobertsPaul AtkinsonPaul Broadhurst Pete CohenSam ClarkSarah McQuillen Steph ClarkeTom KeebleBook StallAmelia ChristoAndrea WhiteBrigid MorganClaire HurrenDavid CampbellEllen MurphyJaime ClarkeJess BorgerLani SeligmanMiranda CumpstonMiranda CumpstonNiki HuynhSal O'KeefeTanya MurraySecond-Hand Toy StallBek TankardJesse HughesDaniel HurrenDrew RobertsJess PermezelJo CackettJoe CheaPeta MalinsAudra Coxhill - This means that we do not run our normal specialist timetable, and, instead, classes will have all of their specialists on one day so that teams of teachers can meet together to plan for the next cycle of teaching and learning. In this case, teachers will be planning for engagement with the ‘Transitions’ inquiry. Because planning days are a change of normal weekly routine, it is often good to chat at home about the upcoming differences and how your child can self-regulate throughout the change. Examples of supportive strategies can be to make a visual schedule or discuss subjects, to highlight the parts of the week that will stay the same or to bring small and portable fidget toys on the planning day.Planning days will be as follows; Tuesday 24th October - SeniorsWednesday 25th October - JuniorsThursday 26th October - Middles Friday 27th October - Foundation  AthsWe would like to celebrate five BNWPS students: Anthony, Lucy, Saskia, Thomas and Viola each of whom qualified for District Athletics on Wednesday 11th October. These students each made us exceptionally proud of their efforts, dedication and results - it is a real achievement to make it to this stage.Thomas and Viola came first and second in their respective events and have qualified for the next rounds - State Championships! Best of luck for that next challenge!     Pie Pie We are sad to share the news that our beloved neighbourhood cat (Pie Pie) passed away on 10th October. Pie Pie was known and loved by most of our students and many of our parents and carers - though we know she gave more than a few parents and carers a fright as she darted across the road at pick up or drop off time!Pie Pie enjoyed the privileged life of a free-roaming animal near a primary school - her days were filled with snoozing in the sunshine, endless pats and lunchbox crumbs and she was very much loved by her home-family as well as her school-family.We are sorry to say goodbye to Pie Pie, but so glad that so many people had the opportunity to enjoy giving and receiving the love of a pet. Teachers have already shared this news with their classes, with some people choosing to make a card to help them say goodbye to Pie Pie.   Philosophy Kids Over the past few weeks, we have both been spending our Sundays completing a Philosophy for Children Implementation course. We are very excited about the many opportunities we can see for Philosophy to be woven into our evolving approach to Inquiry. In the past week, we have each worked with small groups of students to discuss and (try to!) define the concept of Kindness. We looked at various scenarios - both pictures and words and chatted about whether or not they were demonstrations of kindness, not kindness or if they were somewhere in the middle! Some of the students from Unit NF who were involved in the discussion defined kindness as; helping people in need; let somebody that looks lonely join in with you and if somebody is hurt you can help themA fine balance of being kind to others and to you Helping others when they are left out, sad, frustrated, hurt and lonely.  And in the words of one of our senior students; With Kindness, its both intentions and results that matter.  Maybe your family could chat about the question ‘What is Kindnes?’ over dinner or on the drive to school sometime in the next week. ","model":"body","embeds":[{"id":"JmKApL5","body":"NkkR9bN","type":"Image","model":"embed","props":{"mode":"Linear","height":550,"captions":{},"alignment":"Center"},"medias":[{"id":"54KzWpM","url":"https://media.naavi.com/macaroni/im-6c281752-df80-495f-8e7b-2ba5f14375d0.jpg?deg=auto","uuid":"6c281752-df80-495f-8e7b-2ba5f14375d0","model":"media","is_photo":true,"extension":"jpg","properties":{"name":"image.jpeg","model":"media_properties","is_stock":false,"unsplash_id":null}}]},{"id":"54vbPwJ","body":"NkkR9bN","type":"Image","model":"embed","props":{"mode":"Linear","height":190,"captions":{},"alignment":"Center"},"medias":[{"id":"NGzVKe5","url":"https://media.naavi.com/macaroni/im-5a120c76-67e5-4c01-8163-f7e558f52cc0.jpg?deg=auto","uuid":"5a120c76-67e5-4c01-8163-f7e558f52cc0","model":"media","is_photo":true,"extension":"jpg","properties":{"name":"image.jpeg","model":"media_properties","is_stock":false,"unsplash_id":null}}]},{"id":"Mn4AWoN","body":"NkkR9bN","type":"Image","model":"embed","props":{"mode":"Linear","height":310,"captions":{},"alignment":"Center"},"medias":[{"id":"JdeBQDM","url":"https://media.naavi.com/macaroni/im-00e6e7de-d225-468a-b98a-e71e147e0c8a.jpg?deg=auto","uuid":"00e6e7de-d225-468a-b98a-e71e147e0c8a","model":"media","is_photo":true,"extension":"jpg","properties":{"name":"image.jpeg","model":"media_properties","is_stock":false,"unsplash_id":null}},{"id":"NGzVKe5","url":"https://media.naavi.com/macaroni/im-5a120c76-67e5-4c01-8163-f7e558f52cc0.jpg?deg=auto","uuid":"5a120c76-67e5-4c01-8163-f7e558f52cc0","model":"media","is_photo":true,"extension":"jpg","properties":{"name":"image.jpeg","model":"media_properties","is_stock":false,"unsplash_id":null}}]}],"container_id":"NkkR9bN"},"model":"container","width":"Fixed","heading":{"font":1,"html":"\u003cp>A
