National Science Week 2026 is Coming!

Get ready to wonder, explore, investigate and discover! National Science Week is happening across Australia from 15 – 23 August 2026, and we are excited to celebrate the amazing world of science with our school community.

This year’s theme is “Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all.” 

The theme reminds us that science begins with curiosity and questions. Just like a tiny seed can grow into something amazing, our questions, ideas and discoveries can grow when we share our learning with others. Science Week is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be curious, try new things, investigate how the world works and discover that everyone can be a scientist!

Science Week Special Events

We have some exciting activities planned throughout the week:

• 🎬 Monday Lunch – Movie Time!Head to the Performing Arts Room for a screening of David Attenborough’s Life – Plants. Get ready to explore the incredible and fascinating world of plants!
• 🧠 Tuesday Lunch – Science Quiz!Our glorious Year 6 students will be putting your science knowledge to the test with a fun Science Quiz in the Library. Gather your thinking caps and get ready to compete!
• 🏆 Thursday Lunch – Science Talent SearchCome along to the Library to see our Science Talent Search entries on display. A huge thank you to Mrs K and Ms Taubman for helping showcase our students’ fantastic scientific thinking and creativity.
• 🌻 Friday Lunch – Biomimicry: The Amazing Helicopter SeedJoin Mr Chan in the Library to discover how scientists and engineers can learn from nature. We’ll be investigating the incredible helicopter seed and having a go at replicating its amazing design!

So, let’s get ready to ask questions, make predictions, test ideas, learn from our discoveries and share what we find out!

Book Week Parade

This term we celebrate Children’s Book Week from Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August. Students will have the opportunity to dress up for Book Week on Thursday 27th August.
