The Science Talent Search (STS) is an annual, science based competition open to all primary and secondary students in Victoria. The Science Talent Search aims to stimulate an ongoing interest in the study of sciences by encouraging independent self-motivated project work and providing students the opportunity to communicate their achievements to a wider audience. 

The STS theme for 2024 is ’Species Survival: More than just Sustainability'

Important information

• Students may enter as an individual or as part of a group (two students only)
• You may enter into one or more of the nominated sections, such as Experimental Research, Posters/Wallcharts, Photography or Games to name a few!
• There is a compulsory in person judging day on Saturday August  3 for entries in the Computer Programs, Working Models and Inventions categories at MLC – students must attend this day for the project to be judged
• Entries in all other categories will be submitted and judged online and may require a short recorded video presentation. 
• There are set topics for Creative Writing and Posters/Scientific Wallcharts sections – other sections may choose their topic

How to enter

• Complete and return the ‘STS Contract 2024’ to Miss Smith by Friday May17 (Week 5 of Term 2) to ensure your child’s project is entered into the competition. These documents will be posted to Compass. 
• Completed projects will be due for submission to Miss Smith on Wednesday July 17 (Week 1 of Term 3)
