Interhouse Athletics
Last Tuesday, 10 March, our Grade 3–6 students took part in a fantastic Interhouse Athletics Carnival, and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and effort from everyone involved. Students showed incredible determination throughout the day, giving their best in every event and persevering even as the weather warmed up. The effort put into dressing in house colours added to the vibrant atmosphere, and it was great to see so many house points being earned through both participation and performance. A huge thank you goes to our staff and the many parents and supporters who helped make the day run so smoothly. A special shout out to Leah, Simon and Will for helping set up early in the morning and staying late to pack up – your help was greatly appreciated. We are incredibly proud of all our students and look forward to announcing the final results, record breakers and age-group champions at the end-of-term assembly. 🎉🏃♀️🏃♂️
Division Bowls Tryouts
Students in Grade 5/6 are invited to attend the third and fourth tryout sessions for Division Lawn Bowls at first break (11-11.30am) on 25th March and 1st April. Please bring along P.E. shoes for these trainings. Please notify Claire Morris within 24 hours of a missed tryout if you child was unable to attend but wishes to still be considered.
A big thank you to the Buninyong Bowls Club for supporting us in another year of amazing bowls with you! Our students are so fortunate to have you!
Term 2 Afterschool Netball
Students have the opportunity to join a team in the Darroch Afterschool Netball Competition at Llanberris Netball Stadium. These will be run on Tuesday afternoons (game times expected to be 4.05pm, 4.55pm and 5.45pm) in Term 2 (commencing 5 May, 2026, running for 8 weeks) and is a participation competition only (i.e. there are no finals). The competition will run for eight weeks.
This is not a staffed event and parents/guardians are responsible for all aspects of their child's participation (transport, supervision, first aid, etc).
Grade 3-6 students (boys and girls) interested in joining a team will need to register via Compass and make payment before 30 March, 2026. Please note that we will endeavour to include all interested students and preferred days. Teams will be decided by Claire Morris and will be based around the groups of Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6.
The non-refundable initial cost of $40 will need to be paid upon registration (31 March, 2025). There will be an additional cost for VNA (insurance) if your child does not already have this and the possibility of an additional team payment (this is dependent on numbers and we do not expect it to cost more than $10 additional). A refund will be given to those not placed in a team. Uniform will be provided this year and the hire of these is included in the cost. As this is not a staffed event and we will require parental assistance at the game to coach and score. Please indicate on the registration form if you are interested in filling the coaching/scorers roll. N.B. teams will not be entered without a designated coach.
Interhouse Cross Country
Our Interhouse Cross Country is set to be held on 22 April, 2026. Information on the event can be found here. Classes are set to walk the Cross Country track during their P.E. classes in Week 7/8 this term. If you are able to assist with walking the track with any of our classes, can you please let Claire Morris know. Dates and classes needing walkers can be found here.
For those of you who are interested in going around the course with your child prior to the event, links to the relevant courses can be found on the above link.
We are also looking for volunteers to help us out at the various marshalling points around each course. If you are willing and able to help us our please let Claire Morris (claire.morris@education.vic.gov.au) know. You just need a chair, drink, footrest, cheering voice and pom poms if you fancy. A link to the marshalling spots can be found here. Thank you in advance!
SSV State Team Nominations
The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victoria’s emerging student athletes to participate in the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinates the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.
If your daughter/son is passionate about any of the sports listed below and meets the following criteria, please contact Claire Morris (claire.morris@education.vic.gov.au) with all relevant information at least two weeks prior to SSV nomination closing dates.
· Australian Football 12 Years and Under Boys
· Basketball 12 Years and Under Girls
· Basketball 12 Years and Under Boys
· Cricket 12 Years and Under Boys
· Football (Soccer) 12 Years and Under Boys
· Netball 12 Years and Under Girls
Please note that other sports are available. Please check the SSV website for more information.
Students must be nominated by their school. Parents cannot nominate students because each school can only nominate a maximum number of students for each sport. We will consider each nomination and contact parents if we believe their child meets the nomination criteria. Only suitably skilled students will be nominated.
Criteria
· Students must have represented their school/club at an extremely high level including Regional/State.
· Been selected in a representative team (i.e. for Ballarat or a Region)
· Received a league award (not just a club or coaches award) in their chosen sport (e.g. Best and Fairest for the competition, highest goalkicker, etc)
Please read the Team Vic Information Sheet on the sport page before nominating your son/daughter. This document contains important information on the SSV Team Vic Program, in relation to eligibility, registration, multiclass, selection, participation costs, and financial assistance.
If you wish to register your son/daughter to be considered for nomination, please contact Claire Morris at least two weeks prior to SSV nomination closing dates.
What to bring to P.E.
Just a reminder for all students to bring with them their P.E. shoes, drink bottle (and hats in Term 1+4) to their P.E. classes. A different pair of sports shoes need to be brought to P.E. as per the uniform policy. This allows us to keep safe, look after our gym and make the most of our lessons together. Thanks to everyone who continues to remember these.
