Year 9 News

Melbourne City Experience

We are pleased to report that our Year 9 students were a pleasure to take away on camp!  Our group of 48 students consistently showed our college values of care, character, commitment and collaboration throughout their three days in Melbourne. 

Everyone arrived at school in time for our 5:30 departure time - so no more excuses for anyone being late to form group! When we arrived in Melbourne, students jumped straight into a City Scavenger Hunt. Students worked in teams to navigate themselves around the city, finding specific landmarks. When they arrived at each location, they were met with a puzzle or challenge to complete. These involved origami, number puzzles, and even forming themselves into letters of the alphabet! In the end, red team emerged victorious - congratulations to Ollie, Torey, Jayden, Dom, Lewis, Ollie and Chris! Amazing effort. 

Students also participated in a session at Big Issue Classroom. The session focussed on homelessness, and aimed to educate students on how people can become homeless, as well as how difficult it can be to overcome homelessness. Students listened to guest speakers, and investigated how social disadvantage can impact some people more than others. They also learned how the Big Issue magazine team works to help people build positive change in their lives. 

All students did an amazing job of using the tram network to navigate themselves to activities such as DFO South Wharf shopping, swimming at MSAC Albert Park, Hozier Lane, Federation Square and Bourke Street Mall. 

VET Applications 2027

All students who have applied for a VET place in 2027 are reminded that it is essential to be regularly checking your email for communications regarding VET. The onus is on students to complete all paperwork requirements to secure their place, and places can be lost if emails are not responded to and tasks left incomplete.
