Thank you re Principal’s Day

Thanks to all the staff, students and families for your lovely tokens of appreciation for Principal’s Day. Catherine, Naz and I were spoiled with our offices decorated with balloons and confetti, and then we had a marvellous feast at morning tea. Our school captains delivered some speeches, followed by some staff members. We were thrilled to read the messages outside our offices and on individual cards from the students. I know I speak on behalf of Catherine and Naz when I say that I love my role, I get so much back in return from all of you at Dinjerra. Thank you. 

2026 Parent and Caregiver Opinion Survey - please complete the survey

I have posted detailed instructions on Compass about accessing the 2026 Parent and Caregiver Opinion Survey. Your feedback is important to us, as it helps us further improve our school. The survey opens on Monday 17th August and closes on the last day of term, Friday 18th September. The survey is translatable into all the languages that our Dinjerra Community speaks at home. Coming Up

We are embarking on a few weeks of celebrations:

• Week 6: Science Week (from Monday 17th August)

Thanks to our STEM teacher, Ryan McCann for organising a great Science Week for our students. Our Year 1 to 6 students will visit Scienceworks on Thursday 20th August for a fun filled day of Science learning. Our Year Prep students are enjoying their learning in biological sciences as they have been observing their chicks hatching in the classroom! 

• Week 6: District Athletics (Thursday 20th August)

Congratulations and good luck to the 31 student athletes who will represent Dinjerra at the District Athletics on the same day. Our students will compete against others from nearby schools. Strive to be your best, team! 

• Week 7: Book Week

Thanks to our Literacy Co-ordinator, Vicki Hajisava, for organising the Book Week activities. All students will be delving into the short-listed books for the Children’s Book Council of Australia book of the year. Classes will be creating displays from the books and will also have some special guest readers to visit during the week and read to the classes.

On Friday 28th, we will have our annual Book Parade at 9:05am. All family members are welcome to attend and join in the dressing up as well! This year, Vicki will be hosting the session, and we will have a panel of judges who will give out awards for:

• Best Homemade Costume
• Best Creative Character
• Best Group Costume
• Teacher’s Choise
• Funniest Costume.

Week 8: Family Maths Night - Wednesday 2nd September 5:00-6:00pm

To celebrate Literacy and Numeracy Week, we will hold our annual Family Maths Night. Thanks to Michael Voulgarellis, our Mathematics Co-ordinator, for organising the night. Michael has received feedback from our families and has co-ordinated a Maths filled night focusing on the 4 operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. During the night, there will be a mix of maths games and problem solvers for you to complete with your child. 

The session will run from 5:00 to 6:00pm. Please come along and participate in maths with your child/ren and see how we unpack the learning of Maths at Dinjerra.
