FREE EDUCATIONAL UPSTANDER PROGRAM
Year 7 - 9 students - Week 4
We are very fortunate to have Courage to Care present their free educational Upstander Program to our Year 7, 8 and 9 students in Week 4 of this term. The Upstander Program helps students to recognise discrimination and respond with confidence, empathy and action.
Students learn practical skills to be Upstanders — people who choose to act when they witness discrimination or injustice, rather than remaining silent as ‘bystanders’.
The workshops will take place here at school and will be led by trained volunteer facilitators and feature powerful personal testimonies from Holocaust Survivor Speakers, or custodians of their stories. These lived experiences bring history to life and highlight the real-world impact of individual choices and actions.

This term, students will be studying texts which contain themes that the Courage to Care presenters will be addressing which will assist students to develop a broader and deeper understanding of not only the text, but also an opportunity to consider and reflect on issues happening around us in society.
