Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
It has been a pleasure to see our students return and settle into Term 2 with such enthusiasm, ready to learn and reconnect with their classmates and teachers. The positive energy across the school has set a strong tone for the term ahead. Our staff have also returned with a strong focus on professional growth, spending the Curriculum Day last week engaging in professional development centred on VTLM 2.0. This work will strengthen our shared understanding of effective teaching and learning practices and will be directly transferable to the classroom. Through this learning, staff are further enhancing their ability to deliver responsive teaching that supports all students at their point of need, ensuring every learner is both challenged and supported to achieve their best.
The start of the term also provides a wonderful opportunity to formally welcome several new staff members to the Reddy community. We are pleased to have Chris Harris join us in the role of Learning Specialist. Chris brings experience in his role in leading teaching and learning in schools, along with his experience in the disability inclusion area, and will be teaching several maths classes in the Junior School. We are just as pleased to welcome two new Education Support staff members in Josh Gowers and Emma Van Duynhoven who are already making a positive impact in their roles and building connections with students and staff alike. It is also particularly special to welcome Owen Beattie back to our school. As a former student, Owen has a strong connection to our community and is now supporting our Sports Academy Program while completing his teaching degree. We are delighted to have him working alongside our students and staff in this new capacity. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact our new staff members will have on our students and school programs.
Our College Open Night is being held next Wednesday 6th May, between 5.30pm to 7.30pm. We are looking forward to welcoming prospective Grade 6 students and their families to explore our school, meet our dedicated staff, and experience the supportive environment we provide. Families will gain valuable insight into our programs, facilities, and the wide range of opportunities we have available. I thank all the staff and students involved whose time, effort and commitment will no doubt make for an enjoyable evening.
Year 8 students are looking forward to their adventure camp next week at Campaspe Downs, which will provide a valuable opportunity for them to further develop their independence, strengthen friendships, and reinforce skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience through the many activities and shared experiences they will encounter. Thank you to Warwick McDermott for his coordination of this camp and Curtis Pratt, Laura Caruana, Tina Binding and James O’Toole for offering their time to attend and support. We hope you all have an enjoyable time away.
Year 10 Work Experience will take place in Week 4 and is an important part of our learning program, providing students with valuable firsthand experience in an industry area of interest. This experience supports students to make more informed decisions about their future pathway planning as they look ahead to their senior years of schooling. Families are encouraged to reach out to our Careers and Pathways Advisor, Linda Snoxall, if they are requiring support with finalising their child’s Work Experience placement.
As a community, we have many exciting activities and opportunities already underway and so much to look forward to as the term progresses. We encourage families to stay up to date with key dates and upcoming events to ensure students can make the most of all that is on offer. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school community.
