Pathway's Team

The Pathways team has been busy helping students make informed choices about their pathways and tertiary options.
An SSSC Careers Week has been organised from 18 - 22 May with a Careers Expo where 24 tertiary providers set up stands and students completed a worksheet exploring various tertiary options, attended workshops on Tax and Super by the ATO, enrolled in short term Barista, RSA courses with CHT and got tips on resume writing and interviewing with an expert. They also attended an Alumni panel discussion where they got advice from Alumni students from different walks of life join how to succeed in a career.
Around 20 Vocational Major students from Year 11 and 12 are also on a structured workplace learning experience on Fridays as part of their Work Related Skills curriculum.
The Business Management students have been given the opportunity to attend Monash University’s Business Explorer programme during the holidays accompanied by their teacher. Every week, students get information on “What’s On” on this space with Open Days, Careers Expos, opportunities for apprenticeships and SBATS through Compass Newsfeed.
An Alumni tutor list is being prepared so we can connect current students who need tutoring in a variety of subject with Alumni students who excelled in that subject. Watch this space.
Finally all students are being given the opportunity to complete a Careers Action Plan and meet with the Careers Advisor for career counselling. So book an appointment with Caroline on Compass.
The Pathways team are also getting ready to interview and course counsel potential mid year entry students into Year 11 for Semester 2.
