YEAR 8 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 1

Welcome back to Term 2! I trust our students had a restful break and are ready to make a positive start to the new term. I look forward to seeing our students around the College this week and hearing about their holiday adventures.

Report Card Reflections

Hopefully you had an opportunity over the holidays to discuss your child’s report card with them. Over the coming weeks, students will be reflecting on their Term 1 Report Cards during Pastoral Group. This encourages our students to celebrate their wins, identify areas of growth for Term 2, and then put steps in place to strive towards improvement academically and behaviourally. I encourage you to raise this at dinner time this week with your child, and enquire about the goals they’ve set for a successful Term 2.

Parent/Student/Teacher Conversations

We look forward to meeting with Parents and Students at our annual Parent/Student/Teacher conversation evening on Thursday 30th April. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your child’s classroom teacher, and develop a strong relationship between the College and your family to best support your child’s education. It is also the chance to work with your child and their teacher to set goals for continued improvement in Term 2. All conversations take place in the HOB and times must be booked with teachers via the Booked System

New Year 8 Electives

While Year 8 core subjects and classes remain the same for the year, your child will be studying some new electives this term. Students can access their updated timetable on the Student portal. It is important to ensure students have a writing book for each subject, to ensure consistency in note taking.

Year 8 Camp - Fitzroy Island

The marquee event of Year 8, our Fitzroy Island camp, is fast approaching! This is a fantastic opportunity to develop our Yr. 8 theme of ‘Building Connections’, and for our students to develop their resilience, social relationships and emotional health. Information will be available to parents via Parent Slips (Parent Portal) in the next week - this includes packing lists, activity information and travel times. For now, please take note of a few key dates:

  • Monday Week 4 (11th May)  - Students are to drop off tents to the Nazareth Pavilion before 8:30am. Tents will be secured in the shed, and then transported to Fitzroy Island. Students will not have access to their tent until after camp. Please advise is this will be an issue.
  • Tuesday Week 4 (12th May) - Tent building practice during sport
  • WEEK 7 - CAMP
    • Females - Monday 1 June - Wednesday 3 June
    • Males - Wednesday 3 June - Friday 5 June
