Pick-Up and Drop-Off Times – Reminder for Families

We kindly remind families to please observe the school pick-up and drop-off times to ensure the safety and smooth running of the school day.

School commences at 9.00 am, and afternoon pick-up is at 3.00 pm.

We understand that from time-to-time students may need to arrive late or leave early due to appointments. In these cases, please ensure the school is notified and that all sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Attending School - Every Day Matters

At MSS we know that every day matters when it comes to student learning, wellbeing and connection.

Regular school attendance helps students:

  • build consistent routines
  • strengthen relationships with staff and peers
  • develop communication, social and independence skills
  • stay engaged with learning programs that are carefully planned to meet individual needs

Regularly absences can make it harder for students to stay connected and confident at school. Being at school every day gives students the best opportunity to learn, grow and feel a sense of belonging.

When you child cannot attend

We understand that sometimes students are unwell or there are circumstances that mean they cannot attend school. When this happens, please ensure you:

  • notify the school as soon as possible
  • record an attendance note through Compass
  • provide medical certificates or documentation where required

We truly value our partnership with families. By working together and making school attendance a priority, we can support students to achieve their best possible outcomes.

If you have any concerns about attendance or need support, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. We are always here to help.

Upcoming Pathways and Community Support Expo

Families are warmly invited to attend our upcoming Pathways and Community Support Expo, designed to help our students and families explore the wide range of supports available within the Melton community.

The expo will bring together a variety of service providers and organisations offering information and guidance around therapies, NDIS supports, programs beyond school, employment support, Centrelink, mental health, youth services and further education. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, make connections, and learn more about options to support students now and into the future.

📍 Location: Melton Specialist School Gym

📅 Date: Friday 26 June 2026

🕘 Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm

We encourage families to take advantage of this valuable event and look forward to welcoming you.

CSEF may be used for camps, sports programs, outdoor education, excursions/incursions, and graduation events.

What's new for 2026: From 1 January 2026, the CSEF payment has increased to $400 per eligible student.

Families who may be eligible are encouraged to ensure their application is current.

Please contact the school office if you require further information or assistance.

 School Uniform Donations Needed

As the seasons change and students grow, we know many families may have outgrown school uniforms tucked away at home.

If you have any clean, gently used uniforms that are no longer needed, we’d greatly appreciate your donations.

Donations can be dropped off at the front office during school hours.

Thank you!
