This week is busy with students performing solos at the annual String Solo Soirees.

Everyone who plays in Corelli Strings or Orchestra is invited to perform a solo at one of concerts and with 88 courageous students accepting the challenge, the concerts are held over 3 nights.

The string teachers are so proud of all the students for making the most of this once a year opportunity and having a go. It is so wonderful to see the students playing pieces they have worked hard to polish in front of a very supportive audience. The Year 6s do a great job of presenting the concert. There’s definitely a magical atmosphere in the Collaboration Space on soiree nights!

Here is what some students wrote about their experience:

"Last night I performed in the soiree concert. As I sat down to wait my turn I got a little nervous but as soon as I got up there and performed, I felt fine.
My family came to watch me. I played 'Ode to Joy' by Beethoven and it was a lot of fun. I even got to play with my Mum! At the end everyone told me how well I played."

The soirée solo performance was brilliant! Everyone put a lot of effort into their pieces. Everyone was superb in their own way.

Hi my name is Hazel and on Tuesday I played violin on the second night of the solo soirees. There were many magnificent violin and cello players making wonderful sounds. For some people it was their first time playing for others it was their last time playing in the solo soirees. Everyone played really good and persisted through the sounds were so magical and pretty. The sound of the instruments were so relaxing and audience really enjoyed it all the performers tried their hardest. The string teachers and are pianist were so helpful and every one played amazingly.

The solo soiree event on 1st June was a huge success! Having this event each year gives students the opportunity to just have a go at performing solo and speaking in front of a supportive audience.

At the start, some students were a bit nervous but after they played their pieces, I’m sure they would have been really proud of themselves.

One of the best parts of the soiree is that all 29 students had a chance to shine!

The solo soirees can really help improve your confidence and it is super fun to just play your instrument and participate.

Serah – 6M

Choir

The Yr3-6 choir that will perform at the Night of Music concert on 5th September had its first rehearsal last Friday. There was an excited buzz in the air as 51 choristers banded together to joyfully sing!

We are lucky to have Jennette Green returning to IPS to take the choir and Mr O’Brien to assist.
