Staffing News

We greatly value our staff at SPS. They work incredibly hard, look after and guide your most precious possessions - our students each day; and together we work collaboratively to make Scoresby PS the fabulous place that it is. So it is with mixed emotions that we let you know of a few people moving on.

Firstly, Rachel Armstrong has picked up a position at Regency Park PS, and she will be leaving us at the end of this term and starting there in a part time capacity in term 3.

Rachel has been at Scoresby PS for more than 7 years. She has been an asset to our school, teaching across the levels and specialist roles.

She is much loved by our students with her calm and caring approach. Rachel has led productions here and of course led the students in dance at State School Spectacular as well. We will all miss Rachel as she moves on, but we sincerely thank her for her work here at Scoresby PS and wish Rachel and the Armstrong family a bright and happy future.

We will be making decisions about Rachel’s replacement in the coming weeks.

Our Chaplain Sheridan has also announced that she is resigning her position at Scoresby PS and will be finishing up at the end of term 2 as well.

Sheridan has been at SPS since July 2023. She has worked in our classrooms, supported students, made scarecrows for MIFCS and planted garden beds with various crews.

She has been proactive in attaining hampers for children to help families through the Christmas break, and has assisted at school camps, excursions and special events

Sheridan is moving on to work in a charity organisation, and we wish her all the very best for her future.

We have met with the SU Chaplaincy agency to start the process for a replacement chaplain.

Curriculum Day and Principal’s Conference

On Tuesday we held our third Curriculum Day for 2026. We based the day around lesson planning and utilising DE resources. The Knox Educational Improvement Leader (EIL) Alisha Wildey led the morning session laying out processes for planning using Department resources.  Alisha is a terrific source of curriculum knowledge, and it was great to have her at SPS for the morning. The staff then had time in the afternoon for assessment and reporting.

At the annual Principal’s Conference attended by Sue and Nic two weeks ago, there were many take-aways. The two-day conference is always an opportunity to hear from Department people about new initiatives, speak to consultants about DE programs and attend workshops run by schools across the state, showcasing expertise and practices that are happening in their spaces.

Out of these workshops we saw the terrific work being done at Docklands PS. We have organised a tour for later in the year, of Docklands Primary School, a leading school in our system, to see their Maths program.

Reports

Mid year reports will be published on Friday June 26th at 3:00pm on Compass.

A reminder to parents that these mid year reports will be a pared back version of our usual reports due to Australian Educational Union industrial action, and will comprise of:

  • Victorian Curriculum Subject Progression Points showing progress in each subject except for Foundation students as it’s their first reporting cycle
  • HEART Values checklist
