In Week 6, Year 10 students welcomed presenters from the Vietnam Veterans Association, Vin and Nancy to Pittwater House to talk about Vin’s time in Vietnam. Students examined Vin’s gear and heard stories about his time as a machine gunner. They learned about the importance of the Vietnam Veterans' song “I Was Only Nineteen” by Redgum and even learned the background to this song from musical performer Brett Hunt, son of Veteran Frank Hunt who is featured in the song as “Frankie”. A number of students remained behind to ask Vin, Nancy and Brett about their knowledge of the Vietnam experience and thanked them for sharing their stories with us.
