Careers Expo Highlights You Won’t Want to Miss
St George’s Year 10 students attended the Annual Perth Careers Expo in May and there were lots to see and do.
Here are some interesting highlights for those that didn’t make it.
Medical exam preparation
Curtin and UWA recommend that applicants for medicine in 2026 do the many online training programs that are on the (UCAT) site. There were three providers of preparation for the UCAT test at the Expo.
Aviation Careers
This year sky careers seemed to be prominent at the Expo. This could be because the aviation industry has recently set up to promote the industry in response to shortages of skilled workers in the industry.
2025 Aviation Exhibitors included:
Airflite Flying College is your gateway to the world of aviation, offering both Pilot (accredited) and Cabin Crew (non-accredited) courses to students who are born to fly!
Bunbury Flying School is ideal for beginner flight training due to low flight density, and no landing fees.
Check out our training for Commercial and Recreation Pilot Licence and Aviation HERE.
WA Aviation College has been delivering pilot and instrument training for 30 years. They are based in Jandakot.

Exploration Geophysicists
There is a whole Society of Exploration Geophysicists. (SEG)
Geophysicists combine geology and physics to locate resources. They also study the internal structure and evolution of the earth and the ocean to predict earthquakes, erosion and volcanoes.
Many SEG members play a role in understanding climate change and in managing CO2 emissions, including observing glacier and ice sheet volume, studying glacier hydrology, evaluating permafrost degradation, and evaluating and monitoring reservoirs for CO2 sequestration.

New skills for the future of work - World Economic Forum
These could be foundation skills required in all staff in the near future.
Carbon Intelligence - Carbon intelligence has quickly risen in importance, driven by growing urgency around climate change and a torrent of environmental regulations worldwide, from Singapore to California. Organisations are expected to track, report and mitigate the environmental impact of their operations and supply chains with greater frequency and consistency than ever before.
Virtual Intelligence - The second pillar of the new skills triad is virtual intelligence – the ability to work effectively across digitally mediated environments, including full-time office environments. This skill set has become indispensable for anyone collaborating with clients, colleagues, or partners across time zones, geographies and platforms. In other words, nearly everyone in the modern workplace.
AI proficiency - The third and most widely heralded skill in the triad is AI proficiency. While few will become machine learning engineers, most knowledge workers will still need to understand how to integrate AI tools into their daily workflows. Just as not, everyone had to become a software engineer to benefit from and gain internet proficiency, the same is true with AI.
