SAPSASA District Athletics Day

Students have been practicing in PE lessons all term and some took the option to have extra sessions at lunchtime to get ready for the South-West District Athletics Day.

Thursday 22nd August saw 11 students represent Marion Primary School at the Athletics Day at Henley Beach. Well done Yusuf, Ashleah, Lexi, Suhani, Samuel H, Samuel F, Eden, Caoimhe, Isabelle, Jacob & Dane.

The students enthusiastically participated in all of their events and enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of something special, competing against 14 other local schools. Elly & I were incredibly proud of the students for displaying outstanding sportsmanship, supporting their teammates, and representing Marion PS with pride whilst displaying our school values.

The students were determined to improve on their individual times and scores. Well done Yusuf for coming first in Shot Put, clearing 7.39 metres and Suhani for coming 2nd with 7.01 metres. Yusuf has made it through to the State Championships later this term. The students were lucky enough to have an Olympic coach and judge give advice on how to improve their shotput technique.

A special mention to all the students who competed in High Jump. There were a lot of nerves on the day, but they overcame these and were proud of being able to clear the metal bar more than once!

It was a busy day with students needing to sign in and compete against other schools. They enjoyed watching other students and were impressed by the skill level. Some students are now keen to continue to apply themselves when they go to High School and keep competing.
