Leadership Report
A busy couple of weeks...
The past few weeks have been very busy at school with some exciting school events, including Book Week, SAPSASA District Athletics, Aboriginal STEM Congress at Adelaide Convention Centre, an amazing and motivational visit and talk with Izzy Borlace - a Bronze Medal-winning Australian Olympic Basketballer, and a special Choir Assembly. We have special pages in this edition of the newsletter dedicated to Book Week, SAPSASA District Athletics, and the Aboriginal STEM Congress.
Isobel Borlace Visit
Last Friday, we were treated to an impromptu visit by bronze medal-winning basketball Olympian, Isobel (Izzy) Borlace. Izzy is an inspirational South Australian, with the world at her feet at only 19 years of age! She came and spoke to the whole school about her journey, provided some motivational tips and ideas to our students, answered our questions, signed autographs and did some demonstration shooting and a small exhibition game with some of our kids. We wish to thank Sarah Goodwin for her family connection and enabling the visit to take place and us to meet Izzy. Izzy also kindly signed a basketball that is on display in the Front Admin for us to remember her visit. Make sure you keep an eye out for her progress as she enters the WNBA in the US this season playing for Atlanta Dream having just been drafted number 20! We wish to thank her and wish her every success with the bright future that lies ahead for her!
Choir Assembly
Last Friday, we also saw our Choir students put on a special rehearsal performance at a special Choir Assembly. The students treated us and performed various songs as valuable practice ahead of the Festival Choir Performance in a few weeks. The Choir students sounded fantastic and we are sure they will put on a fabulous show at the Festival Theatre! We would like to acknowledge the ongoing work and commitment of Kira Fabbro and Alla Dikovskaya in teaching and leading our school choir. We are sure the students will do a wonderful job at Festival!
New Department Strategy Student Forum - Deepening our understanding of the new strategy through Learner Agency
This week, a small group of Year 5/6 students participated in a student and leader forum focusing on the new Department for Education Strategy.
This session focused on deepening our understanding of the new strategy through learner agency. The students were involved in a range of activities and provided responses and feedback to questions that will further guide this work and the rollout of the strategy to schools and students. Below are some photos of the students during conversation and thinking tasks during the session.
Thanks to Himmat, Dane, Sophie, Olivia and Jaxon for your engagement with this session.
