AFLW NEWSLETTER REPORT!

16 girls from Year 5/6 coming from Chilwell Primary School played AFLW at South Barwon Cricket Club.

The first round was tough, and we lost to Fyans Park. The results were: Fyans Park 1 goal and 5 behinds and us Chilwell had 1 goal and 3 behinds it was fun and exciting but very rough and we ended up losing by 2 points.

Round 2 was basically a repeat from round one - it was Christian College, they had 2 goals and 4 behinds and Chilwell had 2 goals and only 1 behind. After that we decided our team captain would be Alexia Limb from Year 6 because she delivered a lot of goals to our team, and she ended up being the star of the match in the second round.

Round 3 was where it got even harder, our coach Jared Shaw made lots of rotations because Grovedale West was making a lot of rough tackles to the head and shoulders, sometimes even our legs and tripping us down to the ground on our knees. Grovedale West made a SHOCKING win against us with a score of 5 goals 7 behinds a total of 37 points and unfortunately Chilwell got a total of 1 goal and 3 behinds equalling 9 points.

The last round, we versed Kardinia. We think everyone in the team thought it was the hardest match of them all. Gracie C got pulled by the hair and Lexi was somehow head locked. In the end, the scores were Kardinia 11 goals and 7 behinds equalling 73 points and us Chilwell had 4 goals and 4 behinds equalling 28 points.

Although we were well beaten, nobody wanted to go on the bench! Even though we didn’t win any games, that didn’t matter as we still had loads of exciting moments, not just playing the game but having a go and we learnt new skills and most importantly we had fun!

SSV Regional and State Diving Competition - Georgia (Grade 5)

An INCREDIBLE effort by Gr 5 superstar, Georgia, on the weekend who came 4th in the State for the 9/10 girls at the State Schools Victoria (SSV) Regional and State Diving competition. In the morning, Georgia won the Regional event (which is amazing) and led the State competition in the afternoon until the final dive. A win and 4th place is so impressive and she represented our school brilliantly. Congratulations Georgia!
